Dancercise International!
Kids with chins in hands
Did you know that Dancercise Kids is taught to children on three continents?  Through licensees, children over the world are learning the very same songs and dances as your children.  If you're based in our home town area of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, you might not know that Dancercise Kids has licensees all over the USA - from New York to California and Ohio to Texas, as well as Malaysia, Mumbai, Singapore and Tanzania!  We're proud of the fact that our songs and curriculum appeal to kids and teachers all over the world - the Dancercise family grows every day!

Teachers and parents all over the world have also bought our songs from our online store or from iTunes. Kids are singing Dancercise songs in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, India, Scotland, French Guyana, South Africa, Italy, Mexico and many other countries. So next time you pop one of our CDs in your car, make sure your kids know they're part of a worldwide family!

Greetings!

Welcome to our July People & Places Unit Newsletter.  Here's a chance to find out more about:

We're well into the summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and for those of you on this side of the equator, we hope you are enjoying the season.  It's a great time to get outside, get some exercise and practice those healthy habits your kids can teach from their experience with Dancercise!

Speaking of the equator, even though most of our young dancers aren't spending too much time with a globe, some of you will have noticed that we've been highlighting in our newsletters the global nature of Dancercise.  We've licensed our curriculum to over 20 locations across the world, from Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania to Mumbai in India.  Well, this month is our unit dedicated to learning about other people and places in the world!  From our fitness warm-up ("London, Paris, Rome") to our "tap" trip to the wild west in "Rawhide Ranch", we'll learn about the different people and places that make up our diverse world.

Remember, Dancercise classes continue all summer, and our Minnetonka studio is getting ready for an exciting and expanded Fall schedule.

The songs we use in this quarter - as ever - are available for download from our online store for just $2 each, so you can pick your child's favorite songs and download them for your favorite media player.

A reminder: if you are in the Minneapolis area, we still have a few slots available for our educational and entertaining camps at our studio in Minnetonka, including camps themed around High School Musical, Hannah Montana and our always popular Princess camps.  For those of you on the St. Paul side of town, our instructor Anna Tilsen-Mogeni offers some similar options from her studio, Dance'n'Magic, in St. Paul.

Also, for those of you that are in the Twin Cities area and would like to join us at Mall of America, on Tuesday, August 31st (10am and 11am) I will be performing some of our Dancercise favorites at the Mall's Toddler Tuesday event.

On behalf of everyone here at Dancercise Kids, we appreciate your business, and thank you for being part of our ever-expanding global family!

Parent Fun: Questions For Your Dancercise Kid!
dad and daughter

Ask your child these questions and let them show you what they've been learning!
How do you sign Cowboy?
Where are your Quads?
Can you show me a Straddle Roll?
Show me the Amazing Sparkle Jump.
They might not remember everything but watch their imaginations go to town!

ActivityFamily Activity: World Travels

We always try to encourage an appreciation of the world we live in, and this unit focuses on the broader planet.

Supplies: A Globe, Music (a Dancercise song or anything of your choice)

Play Spin The Globe.  Spin the globe while your child's finger is touching it.  Play the music if you can while you're doing that.  When the music stops, stop the globe and talk about the country it lands on.

Ideas on things to talk about (depending on age of your child):
- Language(s) spoken there
- Geology (mountains, rivers, lakes, seas)
- Animals you might find there
- What it might be like to live there, now or when your child is grown up

Encourage your child's understanding of the world and its diversity in terms of cultures, people, animals, geography and so on.  If you're feeling really adventurous, plan your family's next vacation this way (you might want to keep your child's finger away from the poles....)

Thank you for participating in Dancercise.  You can find much more information on our website here, or you can e-mail us with questions.
