Greetings!
Welcome to our April Creative Dramatics Unit Newsletter. Here's a chance to find out more about: Many of our Dancercise Kids will soon be performing in our Annual Show, so we're gearing up for that in class. The kids are practicing their two special songs and a Grand Finale number. This unit emphasizes the skills kids need to be comfortable in front of an audience, so we will practice taking a bow and working together to show off our skills. All kids will be performing in their quarterly show at their school, so these skills will serve them well, as every day can be a "command performance"! The songs we use in this quarter are available for downloadfrom our online store for just $2 each, so you can pick your child's favorite songs and download them for your favorite media player. Those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are experiencing the coming of Spring after what, for many of us, was a long winter. If you are in the Minneapolis area, and are trying to decide what kinds of activities are available for your kids, know that we offer some original and entertaining camps at our studio in Minnetonka; for those of you on the St. Paul side of town, our instructor Anna Tilsen-Mogeni offers some similar options from her studio, Dance'n'Magic, in St. Paul On behalf of everyone here at Dancercise Kids, we appreciate your business, and thank you for being part of our ever-expanding global family! Parent Fun: Questions For Your Dancercise Kid!
Ask your child these questions and let them show you what they've been learning! How do you sign Smile? Can you show me a Grapevine? Can you sign Dance? Show me a Chassé. They might not remember everything but watch their imaginations go to town!

Family Activity: Growing In The Rain!
 As April showers keep kids
indoors, get them up and moving doing Dancercise at home with a simple
art project to pair up with our "Raindrops" creative movements dance.
Supplies:Paper,
crayons, scissors (optional) Color the
following each on a separate sheet of paper: Sunshine, Clouds, Flowers,
Trees, Fruits, Vegetables, Puddle of rain (If you want to get fancy,
you can cut
the shapes out too) In class, we have been
dancing to the "Raindrops" song, imagining to plant and grow a garden of
flowers with sunshine and a rain storm. At home the kids can dance
along with "Raindrops"or other fun music. They will use the sun to rise in the East set in the
West, and to hide behind the clouds. Then use the clouds when it is time
to spin with the wind, reach up on tip toes to tickle the rain clouds
and let them sprinkle down to the garden. Next
use the flowers, trees, fruits and vegetables to grow and dance through
the garden. After the rain storm, kids can have fun jumping over the
puddles, scattered across the floor.
Remember, this month's curriculum is all about creative dramatics, so encourage them to be as "dramatic" as they can! |
