  • Gain support and resources for your childhood obesity prevention efforts from school and district leadership

Healthy Active Children Policy Works, Study Shows
childrenElementary and middle schools are meeting the 30 minute physical activity requirement of the Healthy Active Children Policy in different ways. A study conducted by Dr. Kelly R. Evenson and colleagues, out of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, found that 70 percent of elementary schools have daily recess, and 35 percent use daily Energizers in the classroom. Middle schools are more likely to meet the requirement with PE classes.Through an online survey, Evenson's research group found that the HAC policy is producing some desired results, such as increased student focus and awareness about physical activity, but there is still room for improvement. Click here to read more.
NC Prevention Partners' New Look
NCPP_NEW_LOGOAs you may have noticed, we have updated our look. We are very proud of our new logo - the apple. To many, it is the classic representation of prevention, which is the very core of our mission: putting prevention first for a healthier North Carolina. Our updated logo represents NC Prevention Partners' passion, energy and dedication to making healthy choices easier in North Carolina. In the coming months, we will also have a completely revamped website that will make it even easier to find information about healthy policies wherever you work. While our look is new, our focus remains unchanged. NC Prevention Partners continues to be a leader in reducing preventable illness and early death in North Carolina caused by tobacco use, poor nutrition, physical inactivity and obesity.
Sincerely,
