Generating Results: NCPP's Fax Referral Challenge NC Prevention Partner's first Fax Referral Challenge started in July 2008 and finished at the end of April. The Challenge was initiated to increase awareness about the NC Tobacco Use Quitline. Since its start, the number of referrals to the Quitline has tripled. NCPP will recognize the top large, medium, and small NC hospitals using the fax referral option in addition to the hospital that had the highest number of accepted calls at our Annual Meeting on June 3rd. Congratulations to all the hospitals that participated, and especially to the winners! Mark your calendars, our next Challenge will begin on July 1, 2009. Here is the fax referral form for use with patients and employees who are ready to quit the use of tobacco.
Challenge Results (July '08 through March '09)
- Top Large Hospital - Carolinas Medical Center (YTD 270 referrals)
- Top Medium Hospital - Carteret General Hospital (YTD 59 referrals)
- Top Small Hospital - Chowan Hospital (YTD 40 referrals)
- Hospital with the Highest Number of Accepted Calls - UNC Hospitals (63% acceptance rate)

NC Prevention Partners also offers STC tools on Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Blood Pressure and Cholesterol. | PCMH Open House a Huge Success!
Thanks to all of those that attended the Healthy Food Open House on April 30th. More than 100 people representing 24 hospitals, US Foodservice, Sysco, ARAMARK, Morrison's Management Specialists, Sodexo and other project partners got the chance to see what a healthy food environment in action. The team at Pitt County Memorial hospital along with the rest of our Centers of Excellence did a great job showing the benefits of implementing the core principles of the Healthy Food in Hospitals project. Thanks to ARAMARK for their contributions in providing a delicious, healthy meal as well. Stay tuned for the dates for our next Open House at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center this Fall. |
