| Do you Want to be on the Front Cover?
|
 |
Again this year we are encouraging members to send
us the best photos of their B&Bs to be considered for one of the four
spots on the brochure's front cover. Photos can be of your home, a
room, a table setting or anything that is pertinent to your B&B.
Selection of the four best photos will be made by an independent group not
related to the Guild. If your photo is chosen the cost to you
will be $250, which is less than last year. Keep in mind that these
images will be for print and may need to be in a higher resolution than
those you use on the Internet. It is recommended that you send
1080x1080 (2MB) file images. Photos must be received by Dec. 15
to be considered. So get out there and start snapping. E-mail your jpegs
to Louise Komick. Questions on the photo format
should go to the publisher, B-zign.

Faster, higher, stronger! They look pretty relaxed here, but brochure committee members (left-right) Ed Monster, Louise Komick, Sue Willis (chairwoman) and Jim Straker are actually hard at work producing the next BC Innkeepers brochure, of which over 60,000 copies will be displayed in key tourist spots throughout B.C.
New Committee Working on 2009-10 Brochure Fellow members, it is time once again to be thinking about your listing for the next Guild brochure, which will cover the period leading up to and through the 2010 Olympics. Your brochure committee -- Sue Willis (A View to Remember B&B in Kelowna), Jim Straker (Willow Beach B&B in Kelowna), Ed Monster (Abbaes B&B in Kelowna) and Louise Komick (Creek Edge B&B in Summerland) -- is already hard at work to produce our best brochure ever.
Over the next several months you will be hearing from us cajoling you to thoroughly proof your listing or to try and sell some advertising. In the meantime, please read the following material carefully as it does explain your role in the process. Should you have any questions at any time, please e-mail the brochure committee.
Information for your listing is taken from your BC Innkeepers online info, so please log in and make sure it's correct. It is also important to check your listing in the proofs that will be sent to you. |
Sell an ad, make a commission
The 2009-10 brochure is the
most effective marketing tool the Guild will ever produce, given the
added exposure that the 2010 Olympics will bring. The brochure will be
displayed at all the Tourism BC centres, Vancouver Airport, BC
Ferries, Tourism Alberta and all Canadian Consulates. We also run a
reciprocal advertisement in the Washington B&B Guild's brochure. Advertisers and member B&Bs display the brochure in their businesses.
Last year
we printed over 60,000 copies, and that will be the minimum amount for
this year. If you sold some space last year to any advertisers, please
follow up with them to make sure they want to repeat the ad or possibly
increase the size. If you did not sell any advertising this year, it
will be easier than ever, given the Olympic exposure. Just think of the
number of times you have recommended a restaurant, gift shop, art
gallery or whatever to your guests. (It is helpful if you have kept a
running total of each recommendation). Advertising rates are very
reasonable. Please download and view the Cover Letter, Rate Sheet and Advertising Contract.
Here are the commissions you get if you sell an ad: $25 for 1/8, 1/4 and 1/3 page ads $50 for 1/2 page ads $75 for full page ads
Good luck!
