The PMI Melbourne Chapter offers a variety of courses based on the PMBOK© Guide to help people prepare for their PMI Credential examinations and to enhance their project management skills, knowledge and performance.
PMI Credential Courses:
Short Courses:
Short courses enable credential holder to add further PDUs against their certifications. Those courses are generally 1-2 day in duration and enable 7-14 PDUs to be claimed. Here are the details of the courses:
- 'How to' Develop an Effective Schedule: This workshop will introduce trainees to the concepts and processes involved in developing an effective project schedule, and using the schedule to help delivery successful project outcomes.
- Successful Project Sponsorship: The Sponsor or Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) is the individual responsible for ensuring that a project or programme of change meets its objectives and delivers the projected benefits. This workshop will provide executive project and program sponsors with a clear understanding of their central role, and critical responsibilities, in creating successful project and program outcomes for their
organisations.
- Project Performance Measurement: The Project Performance Measurement training is designed to show Project Managers and other project stakeholders how to practically implement project performance measurement using a standards based Earned Value approach.
- Project Risk Management: Designed for Project and Program Managers to enhance their risk management by combining the best of the PMBOK and AS/NZS 4360 - Risk Management. The course will focus on the full cycle of Risk Management, and in particular, Risk Monitoring and Control.
- 'How To' Develop a Communication Plan: This workshop will introduce trainees to the concepts and processes needed to develop an effective Communication Plan.
- Project Management Using MS-Project: As organisations throughout the world have rapidly moved into a project centric culture, the need for skill and consistency in project management has become an essential ingredient for project and organisational success. This course is designed to help project leaders to effectively implement a PMBOK based project management approach using the popular MS-Project scheduling tool.
-
Business Analysis for Project Managers: The Business Analysis for Project Managers (BAPM) training is designed to formalize the Project Manager's knowledge and skills in business analysis. This course is based upon both the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
- Project Management for Business Analysts: As organisations throughout the world have rapidly moved into a project centric culture, the need for skill and consistency in project management has become an essential ingredient for project and organisational success. Business and Systems analysts play a significant part in the project lifecycle. However, in many cases, people performing these roles do not have the formal exposure and training in project management disciplines that the project delivery managers receive. This can result in significant project issues downstream including excessive changes to scope and inability to meet time and cost imperatives. This course is designed to develop the important project management skills required by Business and Systems analysts and facilitate seamless transition from business and systems analysis to project delivery.
