Notes from our last visit to The Western Club
This is a cool club. Very comfortable seating, great folks, and room to dance, much more spacious than you'd expect from the pictures you see - and clean and neat as a pin!
I know folks come for the music, but what I didn't know was how good the FOOD is.
At the end of our performance last time, the owner presented the band with a plate loaded with his special STEAK.
So, OK, it's always GREAT to eat after a gig, and the steak looked pretty good... But HOLY COW! (...and perhaps it was...) the EXPRESSION ON THE FACES of the guys when they took their first bites caught my attention from all the way across the room! (I was still busy tearing down my dang drums.)
The band saw the same expression on my face when I ran over and tried it too. I ran because I noticed there wouldn't be any more if I left them and it (the steak) at the table together too long.
I'd had other menu items, mostly a meal-on-the-run kind of thing while I was setting up. You know, a hamburger, a club sandwich. They were good!
But I had no idea the steaks at the Western Club were SO good!
Perhaps the owner knew what he was doing when he so kindly offered it to the band...
I don't actually know what kind of steak he served us. If you're interested, perhaps you could ask your waitress for the same kind of steak they served the band last time...
Perhaps you'll be doing both of us a favor...
Oh, and by the way, for those who might be traveling to Navasota for this gig, I always stay at the SUPER 8 -- because it's RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the club. Convenient, no? And kinda hard to get a speeding ticket driving back to your room after the dance, don't you think?
A surprising side note. There's a Mexican restaurant right across the parking lot from the Super 8. We gave it a try for breakfast last time. With the lingering memory of the steak from the night before, we were prepared to be a little let down. But NO! The steak and egg breakfast was stupendous! Very different from the Western Club's offering, but the meat was exceptional!
Why am I talking so much about FOOD! Believe me when I say this is NOT a paid advertisement. And I don't normally pig-out like I did the last time we were in Navasota. Honest! (Really! Honest!)
Where do these places buy their meat! Inquiring minds want to know!
