$150K Grant Funds New Health Careers: Skilled Workers, Strong Earnings Project

A recent Bureau of Labor Statistics study reveals that the healthcare and social assistance industry will make up approximately 26 percent--or four million--of all new jobs through 2018.

JJC is working to train workers to fill those jobs, thanks to a $150,000 Workforce Development grant that will better prepare low income residents and recipients of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) for a career in the healthcare industry.

The grant will fund the Health Careers: Skilled Workers, Strong Earnings Project a component of the college's Healthcare Bridge program. The goal of the project is to advance the Healthcare Bridge program that prepares individuals for a career in the healthcare field by offering occupational training including Pharmacy Technician and Certified Nursing Assistant.
