Ethridge, Kelderhouse 2011 Commencement Speakers 

  

2011 Commencement SpeakersThe 95th Spring Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday, May 13, at 6 p.m. in the Lewis University Fieldhouse, One University Parkway in Romeoville.

 
Featured speakers at the event are Student Speaker Lindsey Kelderhouse and Faculty Speaker Dr. James Ethridge. Student Lauren Raino will receive the Student Service Recognition Award at the ceremony.

Members of the JJC Police Department were honored with a Patriot Award April 27 in recognition of their support in the workplace for the National Guard or reservists.
 
Chief Pete Comanda, Commander Mel Cornelius, Sergeant Jeff Smith and Communications Operator Jean Smith were nominated by Aleksandra Lenart, JJC communications operator, for the Patriot Award given by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESRG) organization. Read more

Frankfort Couple Honored at JJC Sustainability Event 

 

CodosFrankfort residents Norman and Charlotte Codo were honored for their local land restoration efforts at the second annual Will County Green--or GR2011--Celebrating Sustainability Festival kick-off event on the Joliet Junior College Main Campus April 21.

The Codos received the 2011 Sustainability Award for their efforts to restore 24 acres of farmland to native Illinois prairie and savanna in rural Frankfort.
 
"The writer Wendell Berry once said, 'What you stand on is what you stand for,'" Jeanne Phelan, GR2011 event organizer, said. "I can't think of a better way to describe Norman and Charlotte Codo." Read more

The college received the Illinois Network for Women in Higher Education's Institution of the Year Award April 15. Dr. Proulx accepted the award at the organization's annual conference at Governors State University. This is the third year that INWHE has presented this award to an Illinois higher education institution that demonstrates, through its policies and practices, exceptional and innovative accomplishments in the development of women leaders at all levels of the institution.
