Spring Magazine, Annual Report Available Now Online
Joliet Junior College's biannual magazine, Connections, is now available online.
Included in this virtual, interactive edition is the college's 2010 Annual Report, as well as features on two JJC graduates who are now chefs at Trump Tower Chicago and on iStan, the Nursing Program's human patient simulator, to name a few.

JJC to Host College Readiness Standards Workshop
Joliet Junior College will host a workshop for its high school and four-year college partners to educate them on the Common Core College Readiness Standards and curriculum alignment.
The workshop, which will be held on Monday, April 18, at the City Center Campus, is a partnership between the Illinois Community College Board, Illinois Board of Higher Education, Illinois State Board of Education, and JJC Developmental Education.
The workshops are targeted for academic administrators, Regional Office of Education, math and English language arts faculty from high schools, community college and universities. In addition university researchers are attending as well.

April Board of Trustees Meeting Summary
The Board adopted a proclamation designating May 6 through May 12 as National Nurses Week and approved the appointment of department chairs for the 2011 - 2013 academic years.

JJC to Host Kick-Off Event April 21 for County Sustainability Festival
The college will host a kick-off event for the second Will County Green 2011--or GR2011--Celebrating Sustainability Festival on Thursday, April 21, in the T-Building from 5 to 7 p.m. The college community is invited to attend.
The JJC event will honor Norman and Charlotte Codo of Frankfort with the 2011 Sustainability Award.
The Codos have restored 24 acres of farmland to native Illinois prairie and savanna and have quietly supported and encouraged the work of others involved in conservation, organic gardening, and local food initiatives. Read more

New Media this Week
Check out rehearsal photos from the Fine Art's Department's final play of the season, "The Sparrow," which runs from April 14-17.
Photos from the April 8 Spring Gala, which raised $12,000. The money will be allocated toward scholarships and professional development for students and faculty as well as educational equipment.

Recognitions
The Office of Student Activities would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2011 North Will All College Relay for Life event on March 25 and March 26 at Lewis University.
The event raised $31,276.93 to support the American Cancer Society's efforts. JJC had five teams participate in the event, including the JJC nursing team which raised $4,818.50 and Trees of Soul which raised $1,213.44. Both were top fundraisers. Donations are still being accepted to meet the original event goal of $35,000. To donate, visit www.relayforlifenorthwillcollege.com for details.
