Men's and Women's Basketball Teams Advance to Nationals

 

The men's and women's basketball teams both were victorious this past Saturday at the Region IV Division III championships.

 

Both teams now advance to their respective NJCAA Division III national championships on March 10-12.

 

Earlier in the week, the Lady Wolves topped Harper College by a 59-51 score in the Region IV semi-finals. Sophomore Crystal Daniels scored 17 points, while Ashley Shelby added 10 points in the contest.

 

The Lady Wolves earned a hard-fought 77-67 victory against Rock Valley College, who has consistently been ranked #2 in the country throughout the entire season. Ashley Shelby had a team high 20 points followed by Celestra Warren with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Crystal Daniels added 14 points, as Alexis Baker had 13 points including four 3-point shots.

JJC Alumni and Staff Spotlight: Brian Thompson


 

 

Ninety percent of businesses in Illinois are considered small businesses. That's why, says Brian A. Thompson, it's important to spend time educating current and future small business owners and help them to make better, more informed decisions.
 

Thompson, a 1993 JJC grad, is now a business analyst for the college's Illinois Small Business Development Center, which provides free support and advice to those looking to start a business as well as to existing businesses looking to sustain or expand.

Recognitions 

 

 

Dwayne Cable, vice president of information technology, has been chosen to serve on the Professional Development Committee for Educause, a nonprofit association that works to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. Cable will serve a three-year term on this committee.
