 Year

From the JJC Archives

This page, taken from The 1962 Shield yearbook, shows a dedication to longtime JJC employee Vera Smith.

Smith, a 1924 alumna, was a JJC English teacher from the mid 1950s until 1968, when she became the college's first director of admissions and records.

Though she retired in 1972, Smith and her husband, Art, gave generously to the college Foundation. Donations from the Smiths helped to build the current T-Building, which is named in their honor. Smith received the Distinguished Alumni AChievement Award in 2004.
