Spring PPD Week Jan. 3 - 7

 

College offices to close so all employees can attend General Session

 

Spring 2011 Professional and Personal Development (PPD) Week activities kick off on Monday, Jan. 3, and run through Friday, Jan. 7.
 
The college will close its offices Wednesday, Jan. 5, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. so that all employees will have the chance to attend the continental breakfast and General Session.

D-Building Entrance to Close Dec. 3

 

The D-Building entrance will be closed again this Friday, Dec. 3, to complete erection of precast and steel for the Automotive Technology expansion project. Alternate points of entry on the south side of campus include the F- and G-Building doorways.

 

JJC Local Foods Project Kicks Off Dec. 3

JJC is in the beginning stages of developing a local foods project, with the help of a grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
 
To kick off a series of outreach activities, the college will host a public event, "GROW Food Community Economy" on Dec. 3 that will include a sustainable, local foods breakfast and three nationally-known speakers within the local foods movement. Read more

Recognitions

Erica Kwiatkowski-Egizio

 

JJC Math Professor Erica Kwiatkowski-Egizio made two presentations at the 36th Annual American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges Conference in Boston, Mass. in November. The presentations were titled, "Building Conceptual Understanding in Developmental Mathematics"  and "Integrating Math Concepts in Culinary: Secret Ingredients for Success." 


Men's Basketball Coach Joe Kuhn earned his 300th win at the Nov. 30 game against Moraine Valley Community College. Kuhn has an overall record of 300-124 at JJC, and is now in his 14th season as head coach of men's basketball at Joliet Junior College. Last spring, under his direction, the Wolves claimed the 2010 NJCAA Division III National Championship in Delhi, NY with a 94-82 victory over Rochester Community Technical College.
