JJC Acquires White Store Building
On Thursday afternoon, Joliet Junior College completed the $480,000 deal with the city of Joliet to acquire the property at 215 N. Chicago St., also known as the White Store.
The land, which is adjacent to the college's Renaissance Center, will be the site for the college's new City Center Campus.
"Completing the sale of the White Store is a big step forward for the college," Dr. Proulx said. "Now, we can begin our work to create a campus in downtown Joliet that will provide learning opportunities for our residents in a new facility that will be a complement to the cityscape of downtown Joliet."
Demolition of the building is tentatively scheduled for November, along with a groundbreaking ceremony tentatively scheduled for the Dec. 14 board of trustees meeting, which will be held at the City Center Campus.
