When JJC instituted a new policy (Board Policy 1.8.5) to clarify procedures for naming locations in May, it also approved name changes to two sites at the college. The North Campus is now the Romeoville Campus, and Grundy County Center is now the Morris Education Center.
The new policy is based on the Higher Learning Commission and Illinois Community College Board's guidelines for designating locations as campuses, centers, or satellites. The goal is to create consistency in naming locations, said Ryan Smith, vice president of institutional advancement and research.
Currently, the college has three campuses and three education centers. The official names are:
· Main Campus · Romeoville Campus · City Center Campus · Morris Education Center · Frankfort Education Center · Weitendorf Agricultural Education Center
All other locations are designated as satellites.

Watching celebrities dance across the television screen on shows like Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance has offered viewers more than just entertainment. The new reality craze has given rise to a new fitness fad-dancing the pounds off while melting stress away. Looking for a fun way to shed some unwanted weight, New Lenox resident Michele Hoppenrath, began flipping through a Joliet Junior College catalog when she stumbled across a belly dancing course taught at the college's Main Campus. She joined the class in Febuary 2009 and has since lost over 30 lbs. But for Hoppenrath, 56, the class has offered much more than just weight loss. "Admittedly, I'm a little clumsy but taking the class I've become more graceful," says Hoppenrath. "I've also built up my self confidence." She has also taken advantage of the various stretching and breathing techniques taught in the class. For nine hours a day, Hoppenrath is at work confined to a desk. When she grows restless, she says she utilizes some of the techniques she has learned as a midday pick me up. Read more about the class
