The JJC Culinary Arts Hot Foods Team took home the gold medal at the American Culinary Federation's Student Team Central Region Championship held March 26 and March 27 in Indianapolis. Coached by chef instructors Kyle Richardson and Tim Bucci, the team will now prepare to compete against three champion teams from the West, Northeast, and Southeast regions for the national championship title in August in Anaheim, Calif. "I can't tell you how happy I am for them. Thousands of hours of practice and hard work have paid off. [This is] the first central region competition we've won in our competition history," Chef Richardson said. "Now it's back to the drawing board for four months of grueling practice for the big prize--a national title and being named the best student team in the whole country." The JJC hot foods team consists of James Bingham of Homer Glen, Matthew Cappellini of Channahon, Lindsey Cizewski of Frankfort, Molly Meehan of Joliet and Lauren Mulvey of Joliet.
In addition, the JJC Culinary Knowledge Bowl Team, coached by chef instructor Fred Ferrara, won the silver medal at the regional competition. The team is pictured below.

J-Building Parking Changes The college began reconfiguration of its north parking lots today to accommodate construction of the Facility Services Building. This affects both staff and student parking in those areas because the new building's location is directly in front of J-Building. Affected parking spaces in the J-Building faculty/staff lot (North Lot 1) have been relocated along the easternmost rows of the J-Building student parking lot (North Lot 2) and designated as faculty/staff parking Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Signage has been placed in these areas to indicate the change. These spaces are open to students and the public after 6 p.m. and on the weekends. J-Building parking map
