Seminar on Retirement and Financial Planning Strategy

Why is financial education so important?  Due to recent tax law changes, an uncertain future for Social Security and the shift toward employee-directed retirement plans, the need for sound financial strategies has never been greater.

JJC will offer a seminar on retirement planning that answers these essential questions.

"Retirement Planning Today: An Educational Course for Adults Ages 50 to 70" will be held on the Main Campus and will show how to assess your financial situation and develop a personalized plan to achieve your retirement goals.

"There's a whole body of knowledge associated with retirement planning," Dave Carl, course teacher and licensed financial consultant, said. "It's good to have a plan."

JJC to Hold FAFSA Workshop for All Area Students
Workshop will help students complete their FAFSA form

JJC will hold a FAFSA and Scholarship Workshop open to the community on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the C-Building on the Main Campus.

Area financial aid professionals will be on hand to help students complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the free government Web site. English/Spanish translators will be available.

The completed FAFSA form is necessary to apply for all forms of government financial aid. To file a FAFSA, copies of your 2008 Federal Income tax forms, copies of your W-2s, and all other income documentation are needed.

The workshop will also assist students in applying for available JJC scholarships. Last year, the JJC Foundation provided 794 scholarships to students that totaled $680,041.

Financial aid sessions will be held at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. in rooms C-2014 and C-2017. Scholarship sessions will be held 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
