Commanding Performance in the Classroom and Out
Assistant Music Professor Charles Morgan took part in history as a performer during the inauguration of President Obama

MorganCharles Morgan was nine years old when he first picked up a trombone.

Twenty-eight years later, his mastery of the instrument garnered an extraordinary opportunity: the chance to perform during this month's historic presidential inauguration.

Morgan, an assistant professor of music at JJC, played at the Bipartisan Agriculture Inaugural Ball with the 1960s pop group The Buckinghams--a band that he's toured and recorded several albums with over the last decade.

Morgan said he considers himself fortunate to be a part of the event.

"The energy in Washington D.C. was indescribable," he said. "I have never seen so many people gathered together in one place, and everyone was celebrating. It is something I will remember forever."
