This is for the construction of the new greenhouse structure to be located at the old farmstead near the Main Campus exit to Houbolt Road.

JJC to Offer Employment Workshops Jan. 27
JJC's Workforce Development, Admissions Office and Financial Aid Office, along with Will County Workforce Services, and the Illinois Department of Employment Security have partnered to offer a Job Search Expo on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 1 to 7 p.m. on the City Center Campus.
The Expo will offer a series of free workshops to assist job seekers to find employment and/or obtain training at JJC. There is no registration required and no fee.
The Expo will provide information about/assistance with:
- developing/updating a resume
- how/where to look for a job
- how to look for a job if you are 50+
- classes/financial aid at JJC
- looking for jobs online
"The Job Search Expo was designed to help individuals develop a job search strategy, have unemployment questions answered, consider returning to JJC to improve job skills, gain knowledge financial aid resources available, and network with others in situations similar to theirs," Sandra Mol, JJC workforce development director, said.
Mol added that It's important to note that those collecting unemployment insurance benefits can continue to collect benefits while attending the college.
The workshop schedule is as follows:
- resume workshops: Every hour on the hour beginning at 1 p.m.
- job search workshops: 2, 4 and 6 p.m.
- interviewing skills workshops: 1:30, 3 and 5 p.m.

McGreal named Educator of the Year by Int'l Network
Chef Michael McGreal has been named 2009 Educator of the Year by the Foodservice Educators Network International (FENI).
Following an exhaustive evaluation by four judges representing various facets of the foodservice industry, McGreal was selected as the winner in the postsecondary category. McGreal is the chair of JJC's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Department. As the 2009 winner, McGreal will attend the Awards Reception of the 2009 FENI Summit in Las Vegas, Nev., on Feb. 16, at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts to receive his award. McGreal's wife, Brigitta, also earned top honors this month when she was named Illinois Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher of the Year.

Campus Construction Updates Facility Services installed motorized roller shades in the Main Campus cafeteria over the college's winter break.
The installation was part of several construction projects that were completed.

New Nonfiction Book Club Starting at JJC in February
Starting in February 2009, the librarians at JJC are hosting a non-fiction book club for faculty and staff.
The book club is scheduled to meet monthly on Fridays, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Book suggestions are welcome.

Spring Play Auditions in February on Main Campus
The JJC Fine Arts Theatre announces auditions for "The Rimers of Eldritch" by Lanford Wilson on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 6 at 5 p.m.
Those interested in auditioning should prepare a one-minute monologue from a modern drama. It is preferred that the monologue is memorized, but you may read from a script.

Faculty, Staff Recognition
* Dr. Dennis Haynes, vice president for academic affairs, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Haynes will also serve on the Chamber's Education Committee. His term begins this month.
* Joyce Coleman, director of human resources, has been approved for appointment to the Board of Directors for the Senior Services Center of Will County. Her term runs through December 2011.
