Message From Dr. Proulx
College Sells Bond Issues on Oct. 23 for Master Plan
To the College Community:
We are pleased to report that the college was able to sell the full $70 million bond issue Oct. 23.
The interest rate environment was such that we were able to stay within our revenue increase constraints.
As you will recall, this $70 million bond issue is tied to our Phase One Master Plan projects, including the campus center, facility services building, greenhouse/horticulture facility, and additional parking.
We raised the capital assessment fee $9 this year, and planned an additional $1 increase for this bond issue in each of the next three years. Because the $70 million bond proceeds won't be received until Nov. 12, we still anticipate a delayed opening of the campus center on Jan. 1, 2011.
As a reminder, it is the Phase Two projects including the Nursing and Allied Health building, Culinary Arts and Hospitality facility, Automotive Technology expansion, and expansion of science labs that are tied to the $89 million building bond question on the Nov. 4 ballot.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at (815) 280-2207 or e-mail gproulx@jjc.edu.
