JJC Earns National Award for Budget Presentation

JJC has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award-the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting-from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the current fiscal year.

To receive this award, according to the GFOA, institutions must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines assess how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

AgazziThis is the 36th consecutive year that the college's operating budget has been balanced. The total operating budget is $66,519,600, an 8.8 percent increase from the last fiscal year. This budget reflects JJC's strategic plan, the document that outlines the goals and priorities of the college.

"The GFOA award for budgeting is only given to 15 community colleges in the nation," David Agazzi (right), vice president of business services, said. "The award is one of many indicators to show that JJC provides sound stewardship of the money of students and taxpayers. It also demonstrates that JJC has a top-notch financial staff."
