JJC Receives Positive Bond Rating from S&P Joliet Junior College learned last week that Standard and Poor's (S&P) has rated its Series 2008 $30 Million General Obligation alternative revenue source bonds AA.
The college will sell these bonds later this fall to fund projects benefiting students, including the college's new campus center. The bonds will be paid back with revenue generated by its recent capital assessment fees increase. Per the report provided by S&P, this rating is indicative of the college's long history of fiscal responsibility, which was categorized as "strong, well embedded and likely sustainable." Of the 124 schools and community colleges rated by S&P in Illinois, JJC is one of only 40 that are ranked in the AA category or higher. Read more about the bond rating

Eight JJC staff members traveled to Sarasota, Fla. in August to attend the Continuous Quality Improvement Network (CQIN) Summer Institute.
An organization devoted to encouraging quality and identifying best practices, CQIN has 30 member institutions, most of which are community colleges. Each year, CQIN provides training for teams from these member institutions through annual summer institutes. JJC has attended CQIN since 1997.
These institutes highlight business, industry and education leaders who provide learning experiences by highlighting their best practices. This year, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. was featured.
"The partnership with Ritz-Carlton was an incredible learning experience because of their commitment to quality service in everything they do," Roxanne Munch, CQIN team leader and English and World Languages department chair, said. "As a college, we can incorporate this learning to help us serve our students and other stakeholders with Ritz-Carlton standards."
