The Dog Days of Summer
Greetings!
Our dedicated staff at CC have been working like dogs to keep up with the the needs of our customers. But, this is a problem we are glad to have; as it's been a great year for biking in Ohio!
As many of you may have noticed, some of our suppliers have had a hard time keeping up with the demand for bikes and accessories lately. However, I just returned from a meeting in Utah with Giant Bicycles. We reviewed and tested their new bikes for 2009, and talked about their upcoming programs, and it looks like the next season is shaping up to be a great one!
There are still plenty of fun cycling events left to enjoy this season. Don't forget that we still have three of our fun and FREE Night Rides on the Towpath remaining on August 29, September 20, and October 11! And, look for our intrepid mechanic Gary from our Peninsula store providing SAG support at the MS 150 Pedal to the Point ride this weekend!
See you on the trail!
Sincerely,
Scott Cowan, Owner Century Cycles

Featured Product: NiteRider MiNewt Mini-USB Headlight
The new lighting option from NiteRider for commuters is the MiNewt Mini-USB. This small, powerful headlight is perfect for those commuting to and from the office. With an excellent power-to-weight ratio, the total system weighs just over 6oz. This system is perfect for those wishing to conserve as much weight as possible. Charging options are increased, with the ability to charge the battery pack from the USB port of a computer (Mac or PC), or go old-fashioned and simply plug into the wall. The MiNewt Mini-USB is a great fit for our Night Rides on the Towpath or simply making sure you can see where you're going after an evening at the office. Its lightweight small battery pack mounts easily to the stem or helmet, and its small size leaves numerous mounting options. The light power is just under the MiNewt X2, and with a price of just $99.99, it's a perfect gift for the commuting college student or employee!

Back to School: Securing your Bike
Now that school season is back upon us, it's important that kids who are commuting have a lock and know how to use it. Do you know how to use your bike lock? Where is the best place to mount it, and how do you carry it? What's the difference in all the locks? Do I need a U-Lock or is a cable lock good enough?
We'll endeavor to answer all of these questions for you, so head on over to this article on our blog to learn more...

2008 Olympic Games
Right now the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing are in full swing. This is perhaps one of the most controversial Olympic games of all time, from cyclists under fire for wearing masks to protect themselves from adverse air quality, to political demonstrations at home and abroad. In addition, the bike industry is waiting to see the impact of the addition of BMX racing. These could be some of the most influential games of our lifetimes.
We have a constant source of information set up with our VeloNews feed, and you can always gain more info on how the US is doing at the homepage for USA Cycling.
