Join us for an intensive panel discussion on handling the global needs of clients, plus a look at recent legislative and regulatory changes to the tax law for individuals, pass -through entitiies and C Corporations.

Sean Duggan is a Partner in Squar Milner's Tax Department and leads the International Tax Services group. Sean has over 12 years of accounting and tax consulting experience specializing in international tax planning, consulting, research and compliance projects for privately and publicly held corporations, which include large and middle market C-corporations, S-corporations and start-ups. Sean has extensive experience in providing international tax services.

Gabriel Torre is a Partner in Squar Milner's Tax Department. He serves the tax, consulting and accounting needs of many financial services companies and advisors, residential and commercial real estate devlopers, real estate, hospitality and other service providers and entertainment companies. He began his career in tax after serving as a staff auditor for the State of Arizona, Dept. of the Auditor General.

Craig Weaver is Partner-in Charge for Tax Services at Squar Milner. Prior to joining Squar Milner, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers for over 12 years. Craig has over 20 years experience in taxation and accounting, including extensive experience with multi-national corporations. His main focus is on corporate taxation, including planning, accounting for income taxes and compliance.

Scott Burack is a Partner in Squar Milner's tax department, in charge of the firm's Estates and Trusts as well as Bankruptcy Tax practices. Areas of concentration include indvidual, partnership and corporate taxation with an emphasis in high net worth individuals and small businesses; estate planning and compliance; financial services; tax controversy and bankruptcy taxation.

Sean Fort has 17 years of experience in various senior finance and accounting roles in the technology distribution industry.  With nearly a decade living and working outside of the U.S. in senior finance roles, Sean held positions of CFO in New Zealand and Regional Financial Controller in Singapore.  He has worked on multiple acquisitions, reorganizations, and led the implementation of two finance systems.  Sean's passion is for financial planning and reporting and has spent much of his career orchestrating the planning and reporting processes in a multidivisional, international organization.  

Sean is a California CPA with an MBA from UC Irvine.  He is a Level III CFA candidate.

Explore the use of Excel as an audit and analysis tool and learn about selected features that help prepare accurate reports and workpapers. Review SAS 56 requirements and how to satisfy them with Excel and study certain FASB pronouncements that Excel can automate. Explore how certain fraud analysis may be accomplished with Excel, including the implementation of Benford's law. The course will demonstrate many of the features in Excel 2007 for Windows.

Health care reform and the competitive environment have re-focused California hospitals and health systems to develop physician alignment models (Medical Foundation, Friendly PC, etc.) that lead to the valuation and potential acquisition of physician practices and groups. Whether it's an ACO, Medical Foundation or an integrated group model, hospital and physicians are faced with legal, financial, and political challenges and the need to reach agreement on difficult issues. The FEI-OC dinner meeting for October will be a joint event with the Los Angeles chapter.   The meeting will be held on October 27 in Long Beach.

Mr. David M. Walker is considered a leading national speaker on this nation's fiscal troubles. He has served under the previous two presidential administrations. His Campaign for Fiscal Responsibility has widely known and has compared the United States to the Roman Empire in its decline, saying the U.S. government is on a "burning platform" of unsustainable policies and practices with fiscal deficits, over commitments and entitlements.
