OEDC's 2010 Legislative Advocate of the Year Nominations
It is time once again  for our members to submit nominations for OEDC's 2010 Legislative Advocate of the Year.  Each year this award is given during Economic Development Day at the Capitol recognizing one legislator (elected official) who our membership felt should be recognized for outstanding support of economic development legislation in the 2010 Legislative Session.

Nominations must be submitted by Wednesday, January 5, 2011.  Please include the name of the elected official (legislator), reason for nomination and any other information that will help the committee decide on who should receive the award.  Nominations should be sent to dfowble@okstatechamber.com.

Congrats to The Oklahoma Prosperity Project!!!

The Oklahoma Prosperity Project won BIPAC's national best website award and the first ever Star Award for the best overall P2 program. BIPAC is the federal business and industry political action committee headquartered in Washington, D.C.

In addition, the website had over 11.6 million pages viewed.  The closest after that is Pennsylvania at 6 million and Texas at 4 million.

Darrell Shull said that of ALL the pages viewed nationally on 50 states sites, one in 12 were viewed from the Oklahoma site.  Having info on all the key races and those 11 state questions really made a huge impact on our numbers.

 Public Meeting on Redistricting
The Oklahoma House of Representatives' Redistricting Steering Committee will be holding a series of public meetings throughout the state in December and January, before the 2011 redistricting process begins, to encourage public input in the redistricting process.  The meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend.

The second meeting is being held Wednesday, December 15, at 5:30 p.m., at the State Capitol, in the House Chambers.  Local elected officials and other civic leaders are invited to sit on the House floor, with overflow area available in the House gallery, on the fifth floor.  The State Capitol Building is located at 2300 N Lincoln Blvd, in Oklahoma City.  We are notifying you so that you can help inform the citizens in your area of this meeting.

The meeting will also be available via streaming video. To view, go to
http://www.okhouse.gov/Video/Default.aspx.

Anyone interested may attend.  If you are interested in attending a meeting, but cannot attend this particular one, please call the House Redistricting Office at (405) 557-7468 and they can inform you of other meetings scheduled in other parts of the state.

The Redistricting Steering Committee intends to guide the development of a fair and reasonable plan that adheres to all legal guidelines for equal representation.  These meetings give citizens a chance to voice their input and concerns before the process begins.  We encourage you to attend.
