                OEDC Members & Trade Associations

FROM:    Ronn W. Cupp, Sr. V.P. For Government Affairs

The State Chamber is once again joining the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals and the Oklahoma State Department of Health in sponsoring the Oklahoma Certified Healthy Business and Certified Healthy Restaurant programs.  Last year, more than 200 Oklahoma businesses and restaurants participated in the program.  Many received the designation of Certified Healthy Business, while some achieved higher certifications of Merit and Excellence.  The Certified Healthy Business program seeks to recognize business, schools and associations working toward a healthier Oklahoma by providing health and wellness opportunities for their employees and patrons.

A healthy workplace is a win-win for Oklahoma businesses.  Businesses that make wellness in the workplace a priority enjoy the benefits of reduced absenteeism, employee health plan savings, better employee retention, increased productivity, and a happier, healthier workforce.

For businesses and restaurants receiving the best scores in their categories, there will be an awards and recognition luncheon in early 2011.

Please forward this notice to your members and encourage them to participate in the program.  And, of course, sign-up yourself.  Nominations forms are available online at http://www.okturningpoint.org.  Or print out a hard copy and return it to Neil Hann, Community Development Service, Oklahoma State Department of Health, 1000 NE 10th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73117.  You may also FAX your completed form to Neil at 405/271-1225.

Tulsa Metro Chamber - Named Nation's Best

For a record third time,
Tulsa is selected number one again by chamber peers

The Tulsa Metro Chamber announced today its selection as the nation's best chamber by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE.)  The Chamber of the Year Award is the highest achievement in the chamber industry and was presented to Tulsa at a national conference in Milwaukee, Wis.

Chamber President and CEO Mike Neal and Executive Vice President Matt Pivarnik clinched the title for a record third time in five years after participation in a panel interview at the national ACCE conference.  This marks the first time a chamber has been selected as a finalist and award winner in three consecutive, back-to-back years of eligibility.  Award winners are not allowed to apply the following year.
