Thanks to each and every one of you who answered my inquiry
for ideas about how to move Oklahoma forward. We have received an
overwhelming response (seven pages of ideas). In the coming weeks, The
State Chamber will begin developing a Business Plan for Oklahoma where we hope
to evaluate ideas submitted for inclusion in this plan. If you were
planning to submit ideas, it isn't too late. Deadline is Wednesday, July

IEDC Business Retention Course, November 18-19 Kansas City, MO
|
The Missouri
Economic Development Council (MEDC) is sponsoring the IEDC course, Business
Retention and Expansion November 18-19, 2010 in Kansas City. We recognize given
this period of tight budgets that participating in IEDC courses is often
hampered by the travel time and cost. Our committee worked with IEDC to bring
the course to Kansas City with the hope that economic developers in Missouri
and our neighboring states could take advantage of a more convenient and
comparatively reasonably cost location.
There is a
link to the Calendar Section of theMEDC web
site (www.showme.org) that leads to the
registration form. It is important to go to www.showme.org in order to take
advantage of the reduced membership fee that IEDC offers to the host
organization.
All
registrations through www.showme.org will also count
towards the total course attendee number of fifty that IEDC requires. (MEDC is
liable for any shortage in number, but we felt with the help of our neighboring
states that we could take that risk) Any assistance that you can provide in
promoting this course to your eco devo contactswould
be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Northwest Oklahoma Alliance to Host Oklahoma Academy of State Goals
|
July 20 | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. NWOSU Campus in Woodward
Alva,
Oklahoma-July 7, 2010- The Northwest Oklahoma Alliance announces it will host
the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals on July 20, 2010 from 10am-2pm at the
NWOSU Campus in Woodward, Oklahoma. The Northwest
Oklahoma Alliance will partner with the Academy to host a discussion on this
topic from the perspective of NW Oklahoma communities. We will be answering the question, "What do
NW Oklahoma communities need to be successful?" Craig and Julie Knutson will lead the discussion and take the concerns
back to the academy so they can be included in the reference materials for this
year's town hall. This will be a great
opportunity for us as a region to share our successes and challenges and have
them included in a document shared with leaders from all across the state. This meeting
will be the first in a series that the Northwest Oklahoma Alliance Board is
hosting to reengage Northwest Oklahoma communities and support our efforts to
grow. The Oklahoma
Academy for State Goals is a statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan, membership
organization founded by Governor Henry Bellmon in 1967 to bring public
attention to policy issues, provide objective, thorough research and act as a
catalyst for positive change. They
accomplish this is through their annual Town Hall meeting for which they
carefully select 150 Oklahoma leaders from business, politics, and academia to
meet for three days and discuss solutions to a specific problem. On November
14-17, the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals will assemble for their 2010 Town
Hall. This year's topic is "Municipal,
Oklahoma." It will focus on Oklahoma
municipalities and the best way these communities can respond to current
economic challenges and position themselves for future success. The Northwest
Oklahoma Alliance for economic development is an organization designed to
coordinate, consolidate, develop and promote regional resources, and provide a
unified voice for Northwest Oklahoma. The meeting is free to all in attendance and lunch will be
provided. For more information or to R.S.V.P.
