Exec V.P. Highlights

Summer
has officially begun....unless you haven't noticed with the sunny days and warm
Oklahoma weather. A few tidbits of information: · OEDC membership meetings do not convene during the summer
months. This is the time when OEDC leadership and committees began
preparing for the fall monthly programs, October's Annual Meeting and of course
the 2011 legislative sessions.
· GEDMT will hold a retreat for its members in Duncan in
July. OEDC along with GEDMT Executive Committee will then meet on August
10th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at The State Chamber to plan calendars
and events for 2011.
· OEDC's Annual Meeting is scheduled for October 4-5. Location information will be sent in a separate e-mail along with further
details over the summer months. If you have specific topics of interest
for any monthly meetings, the October conference or 2011 Summit for next October,
we welcome your insight and input. Submit information to: Janet
Smith or Tim Burg. They are co-chairing the OEDC Training and Education
Committee that oversees these events.
· Mark your calendars for the next official OEDC membership
meeting, September 7th at The State Chamber. We will focus the
entire meeting on Economic Development Incentives - what happened during the
2010 Legislative Session and how do we prepare for what the future holds for
these and economic development efforts.
· The OEDC Board is very interested in knowing who has interest in
serving on various OEDC committees. Official committee include Legislative Advocacy, Training/Education, Membership Recruitment/Retention. Please click on the committee above to sign up as a
committee volunteer. Work begins this fall.
· The State Chamber's Washington D.C. Fly-in will take place
September 13-14, one week after OEDC's Monthly Membership meeting. We
encourage each of you to rally with your business community and join us in
D.C. The agenda for the event is shaping up and promises to provide
information on relevant energy, economic and election information. For
more information, contact Ronn Cupp.
· The November Elections will change the leadership landscape of
our state, more drastic than ever before. Be sure you are educating your
business community on the elections, topics of significant for Oklahoma's
future as well as preparing them for the eleven plus ballot issues. Visit
www.okstatechamber.com or www.okprosperity.com for legislative wrap
up information and election assistance.
Have a great
summer. Thanks for making the first half of 2010 successful. Can't
wait to see you in September or maybe throughout the summer as progress
is made. Stay cool!

OU EDI Comes to Kansas City
|
Fellow
OEDC Member,
As Chair of the OU Economic Development Institute Marketing Committee, I am
asking for your assistance in preparations for the Fall 2010 OU EDI session.
The Fall 2010 session will be held November 14-18th at the Hyatt Regency Crown
Center Hotel in Kansas City.
The event will feature highly qualified certified economic development
practitioners as instructors and is an outstanding opportunity to enhance your
organizations professional development effort.
Many of us understand the value of continuing education for not only ourselves,
but for our staff and economic development partners. In uncertain economic
times eliminating these opportunities will only slow our ability to respond to
the ever changing needs of this global economy. More skills development is
needed, not less.
To assure that we have an outstanding enrollment in November, we are asking you
to consider sending this email to your own personal network of economic
development professional contacts. Let's get the message out that the premier
economic development institute is offering training in the heartland, where the
travel and lodging costs will be more palatable. Forward this email
today!!!
I have included some initial information about the event below for your
convenience. If you have someone on your staff or know of another economic
development practitioner in need of training, I ask that you encourage them to
consider attending this premier training event.

Your Prosperity Project Candidate Surveys
|
In our quest to send informed voters to the polls this year, Prosperity Project candidate surveys were mailed
Friday to all candidates running for State Legislature, Congress, Governor,
Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and State Superintendent of Public
Instruction. As candidates return their
completed questionnaires, we'll combine them into Voter's Guides and post them
for voters July 8th at www.okprosperity.com. We're often asked how our
questions are developed. Our 2010 Survey Team spent more than 14 hours
narrowing priority economic issues and developing questions that address
them. They are experts on economic development,
health care, education, small business, energy, taxes, transportation,
manufacturing, technology, legal issues, agriculture, and water issues. Draft surveys were also
shared with State Legislative leaders from both parties for their feedback. As a key State Chamber
leader, links to your copies of the surveys are
attached below. For questions or additional information, please
contact Ronn Cupp, 405/235-3669. We
appreciate your support. State Legislator Candidate Survey Lt.
