Urge the Senate to act now on foster care and adoption assistance! Very few weeks remain in the congressional calendar for Senate action on a key bill which would improve the lives of children served by county child welfare agencies. NACHSA requests that you contact your Senators to urge their support of the Fostering Connections to Success Act (H.R. 6307) or similar legislation. H.R. 6307 was adopted unanimously in the House. It contains federal funding for subsidized guardianships, a state option to extend foster care assistance up to age 21, and reauthorizes and improves the Adoption Incentive Program, which is slated for renewal by September 30, 2008.

All Senators should become aware of this bipartisan opportunity, especially those members serving on the Senate Finance Committee which has jurisdiction over the issue.
