2009 Pacesetter Campaign Kick-Off
Lead the way for the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley 2009 Campaign!!
 
This year's Pacesetter Campaign will kick-off on Thursday, July 30th with a free breakfast and training session to be held at the Holiday Inn, Boardman.  
 
Pacesetter organizations agree to run their workplace campaigns early and help "set the pace" for the 2009 campaign which will officially kick-off in September.
 
If you and your company are interested in leading the way for the 2009 campaign as a United Way Pacesetter, please complete a response form.

Knoll Run Golf Course Supports Our United Way

During the month of June, Knoll Run held various fundraising events with all proceeds benefiting our United Way.

12th Annual Day of Caring
Day of CaringThe 12th annual United Way Day of Caring will be held on Friday, September 11th.
 
Join hundreds of employees from local businesses in this community-wide day of hands-on volunteering by completing tasks, odd jobs, and organizing activities for local non-profit organizations.  Projects consist of painting, construction, landscaping, cleaning, home repairs, serving meals, or field trips.

O'Charley's Bass Classic Highlights
O'Charley's Bass ClassicThe 10th annual O'Charley's Bass Classic was held on Saturday, May 30th at Evans and Pine Lake. 
 
The event featured 47 pro-am teams with the top team on Evans Lake of Tom Rolland and Chris Aman weighing in with a total of 17.89 pounds! 
 
The top team on Pine Lake was Mike Bolevich and Russ Werner weighing in with a total of 17.81 pounds! 
O'Charley's Bass Classic
Our amateur participants included Daniel Sepulveda of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Joe Thomas of the Cleveland Browns with their pro partners Joe Harbert and D'Arcy Egan respectively.   

On the day of the tournament, we hosted a Kids' Fish & Fun Event at Evans Lake.  Over 100 children enjoyed fishing along the shore and other fun activities.

 
Champions Among Us Success!!
Champions Among usOn Thursday, June 4th, we welcomed former YSU and NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski, who is currently a broadcaster for ESPN's Monday Night Football, back to Youngstown.
 
We also honored Youngstown's own, and former Ursuline quarterback, Daryll Clark, who led Penn State this year to the Big 10 title and berth in the Rose Bowl.
 
Over 700 people attended the event at Mr. Anthony's.  The evening also featured a silent auction and an exciting live auction.  Thank you to all who attended and made it a great night!

In existence since 1919, the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is a non-profit organization that raises and distributes funds to over 70 programs of 27 local health and service agencies.  Each year, approximately one out of every four people in the Mahoning Valley receives services from a United Way-funded agency.  The mission of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of the Mahoning Valley.
