Are Engineers Insane? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Einstein (or someone smart, anyway) once defined insanity as the act of doing the same thing over and over and expecting the outcome to change. But Bill Schweber is also right that beating our heads against the wall in a similar manner is often part of the engineering experience.
Indeed many engineering advances are made by trying the same actions repeatedly, until things finally "click". Often, you may be doing the same thing over and over, but some unknown underlying parameter is different or is affecting your results (noise, contamination, orientation), and does not become apparent-and therefore understood-until more detailed investigations are completed. |

Training Dates Set for 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In January 2012, I'll be teaching a winter session 2-credit short course on Embedded Software Architecture at Johns Hopkins University. If you live or work in the Baltimore area, I hope you can join me.
Then in May 2012, we'll run the next session of our popular Embedded Software Boot Camp. This training will be in Maryland too, so we're also looking at venues in Texas and California for a February or March Boot Camp. (Where would you like us to hold this?) |
