Hi all,
For those of you that were not able to attend the February 4th meeting held at the New College Theater (home to the Hasty Pudding Theatricals) , it was a most memorable one.
After many years of good intentions, thanks to Joe Donlavey and his committee, our charter, with input from the board and several individuals that sent in comments and suggestions, it has finally gone through a revision and ballots were distributed for approval. The votes are currently being tabulated and the results will be announced at the March meeting to be held at the Calderwood Pavilion, part of the Boston Center for the Arts, on Monday, March 8th.
In addition to the charter portion of the meeting, several Cambridge establishments (John Harvard's Brew House, Savenor's Market and Sandrine's Bistro) kindly provided a delicious and plentiful array of food for us, and we were then treated to a performance of this year's hilarious production entitled "Commie Dearest". All in all, a very productive and entertaining evening with a great turnout and wonderful interaction including input by both Concierges and Affiliates.
Speaking of entertainment, our March meeting will be just the thing to get us through yet one more winter season in anticipation of the spring. We will have another performance, this time by the Improv Assylum (now performing at the Wimberly Theater at the Calderwood Pavilion while their space on Hanover Street is being renovated), a fashion show provided by Boston's own acclaimed fashion designer Denise Hajjar, and food provided by Ginger Park (formerly Banq) in the South End.
So, let's all pull together to brave the (hopefully!) last vestiges of winter weather and it's correlating slow down at our respective properties, in anticipation of the spring and new opportunities.
I look forward to seeing you at the March meeting!
Warm regards, Ellen

Members attending the meeting also received postcard flyers about the latest Hasting Pudding Production.
Ellen then spoke about Willy Hackett a GBCA member who recently suffered an emergency illness, but is on the road to recovery. If anyone would like to send get well wishes , his address will be sent out via email. Ellen also announced that the GBCA Organization will be contributing a $1,000.00 donation to Partners for Health ( founded by Harvard graduate Dr. Paul Farmer) for the Haitian Earthquake Relief Efforts.
Next Adam Castiglioni, Vice President of Public Relations for GBCA thanked Danielle Slapak for her great work in developing the new GBCA website. Adam asked everyone present at the meeting to reply with comments.
Ellen announced that "Duck Tours of Boston" will be conducting a contest for their new duck. Entries should be E-Mailed to Bob Schwartz of the Boston Duck Tours by March 1, 2010 when the contest ends.
Before the final event on the agenda of the GBCA meeting, Ellen said there would be envelopes available for members with news and information about a new Park Street Tour from Unofficial Tours and Antonio Reyes. Ellen then turned the meeting over to Joe Dunlavey and Betty Salemme, members of the Charter Change Committee. Official ballots and a copy of the new Charter Changes were passed to all present. The changes were reviewed and open discussion was held on each change. The ballots were to be filled out and returned to Robert Morrissette at the end of the meeting. Only ballots of members in good standing of GBCA would count in the voting process.
At the end of the meeting everyone adjourned to the Hasty Pudding Theatre to enjoy the dress rehearsal production. |

A
big thank you to Paul Duffy, Robert Morrissette, Lana Hoover, & Joe Fallon for volunteering their time to bring Valentine's greetings to the clients at the Ellis Memorial Adult Day Health program in the South End. A great time was had by all as we presented the clients valentines, played games and talked with them. We also presented them with a monetary donation to enable them to purchase a Nintendo Wii system! This will enable them to stay even more active and have even more fun during their time at the program. The clients also had a special visitor that day from Catie Copley, the canine ambassador from the Fairmont Copley Plaza. She brought much joy and excitement to all there. A special thank you to Joe Fallon of the Fairmont for arraning the visit. The Greater Boston Concierge Association will be returning to the Greater Boston Food Bank on February 26th to volunteer from 9:30am-12pm. We will also be presenting them with a donation from our holiday gift wrapping at Barnes & Noble Please email Adam at acastigl_99@yahoo.com if you would like to attend. Please send outreach ideas you would like to me as well!
