July 2009
Hi All,

The meeting at the new "New Balance Marine Mammal Exhibit" was fantastic! We had the opportunity to visit the new exhibit and then the meeting space with its phenomenal views, the wide range of speakers (from a new Comedy Club venue, Veterinary services for the animals staying at our properties and a genuine Wampanoag Indian Princess, amongst others) provided the interest and information enjoyed by all.  In addition, we were treated to a delicious variety and very generous array of gourmet food provided by the caterers from the New England Aquarium!

Even though this will be hard to top, we will all continue to wonder at the generosity and excitement of the meetings yet to come! So, mark your calendars and watch for further information regarding the dynamic August meeting at the Liberty Hotel on the 11th, the fun and "participatory" meeting at the Improv Asylum on the 8th of September and the elegant and sophisticated meeting to be held at Symphony Hall on October the 13th!

As if these incredible venues weren't enough, there are still a couple of P'Town trips to watch for, the Newport Fam tour coming up on the 20th and several other fun events in the works with a number of other venues.  What a life!

So, let's all keep praying for less rain and more warmth to enjoy the summer and I look forward to seeing you at one or more of those great opportunities!

Warmest regards,
Ellen

July 6th GBCA Members Meeting at New England Aquarium

The New England Aquarium once again hosted a great meeting for the GBCA members and we were privileged to be the first group to have an event in the newly opened New Balance Marine Mammal Exhibit and the events tent beside on the end of Central Wharf. This adds another exciting piece to Boston's wonderful Harbor Walk.
The tent is a great space for private events and functions with a stunning view of the Harbor on three sides and delicious catering generously provided by the aquarium.   (The Aquarium also runs The Reef Bar and Grill outside the main entrance on Central Wharf.   They feature outdoor dining, live music and trivia on Friday evenings).   Before the meeting began we were able to view the new seal area that the Marine Mammal area encompasses.     The trainer Kelly gave us information about the seals and we able to learn a great deal about them.  Check out www.neaq.org for more great information about the aquarium.  Our thanks to Kelly Clifton, affiliate rep for the Aquarium, assisted by Deb Borgwardt the previous rep and their staff. Kelly told us that the exhibit would be open year round and that the tent can be reserved from April to October. Our concierge passes also now include the showing of the new Star Trek movie on the IMAX big screen and the Aquarium whale watch trips. If current member has not yet received the GBCA pass, please contact kclifton@neaq.org. (www.neaq.org)  Congratulations as well to the Aquarium on their 40th anniversary!
