Greetings!
Welcome to your first issue of the Monthly Inspirer, our e-newsletter designed to keep you connected to Inspired Teaching and to our mission: to ensure that schools make the most of children's innate desire to learn. The Monthly Inspirer will show up in your box once a month filled with news, ideas, and strategies for bringing more Inspired Teaching to our schools.
You can play an important role in making Inspired Teaching the norm rather than the exception in our schools by helping us to spread the word. Encourage your friends to join our mailing list. Try out the suggestion in each month's "Conversation Changers." Take one of our courses, comment on our blogs, and add your voice to the growing community of advocates for change in our schools!

IN OUR OPINION...

Teachers are the Solution All summer teachers in our Inspired Teaching Institute have expressed concern and worry about the press surrounding upheaval and problems in DC's school system.
We've taken the opportunity to remind them that while the system may struggle to find its financial and administrative footing, the real solution has been right in front of us all along. Teachers are the solution. LEARN MORE: Read our blog.

CONVERSATION CHANGERS

Questions to Spark Discussion We are bombarded with conversations about the state of education in our nation, but these conversations usually revolve around issues of governance, assessment, and funding. Our schools won't change until we focus equal attention on what really matters - the teaching and learning going on in our classrooms.
You can help to create that shift simply by changing the way you talk about schools. Try this out: Instead of asking parents, "How is your child doing in school?" ask "How is school inspiring your child? How is it turning him on to learning?" These kinds of questions can help start a desperately needed dialogue about the kind of school experience we want our young people to have. LEARN MORE: about what we think teaching and learning should really look like.
