New ways to commit suicide by sugar
Do you read food labels? If you do you will have noticed that high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is in lots of foods: carbonated sodas, fruit drinks, candy bars, bread, breakfast bars, dairy products, crackers, soup, condiments, salad dressings, pizza sauce, and thousands of other items. So What's wrong with High Fructose Corn Syrup? Well it has been linked to health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, increased triglycerides, increased LDL cholesterol, and liver disease, oh and tooth decay. And it converts to fat far more than other sugars. It contains no enzymes, vitamins, or minerals, and so it robs the body's store of these vital substances. HFCS also short-circuits your stomach - brain connection, so you just keep on eating after you are already full. Given that we are living through an epidemic of obesity, diabetes and heart disease it makes good sense to avoid anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup in it. Americans consume an average of twelve teaspoons of High
Fructose Corn Syrup every day.
Now we have another good reason to avoid it. The latest bulletin from the Institute for Agriculture
and Trade Policy, reports, that high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is
contaminated with the toxic heavy metal mercury.
It turns out that American
consumers may be eating five times the upper safety limit of mercury
every day, due to high-fructose corn syrup consumption. That's right, your favorite sweet foods are now supplemented with mercury. What happens if you consistently exceed those upper safety limits for mercury? Go ahead, live without a safety net! Mercury does cause severe neurological disorders. It also results in the loss of hair, teeth and nails as well as muscle weakness, numbness of the hands, feet and mouth, loss of kidney function, emotional mood swings and memory impairment.
So where does all this mercury come from? One of the processes involved in the manufacture of HFCS is the creation of caustic soda in arge vats of electrified mercury. Through this process, the caustic soda gets contaminated with mercury, and when those sweet corn kernels are exposed to this caustic soda to break them down, the mercury is passed through to the corn syrup.
The bottom line - avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup. HFCS is bad enough, but mercury is very toxic. Mercury is the second most toxic element after plutonium, estimated to be 500 to 1,000 times more toxic than lead. Most Americans are already way over-exposed to mercury from contaminated fish, flu shots and dental amalgam.
Our cultural obsession
with the sweet taste is driving the health epidemics of diabetes, heart
disease and even cancer. But this is one juggernaut that YOU don't have
to ride on. Just go with the natural sweetness of fresh fruit. If you give up sweet foods of any kind except for fresh fruit, you will find that pretty soon your body stops craving anything sweeter.

Discounts, Special Offers and Ancient Wisdom
Hi Patients, If you haven't come in for an acupuncture session in the last six months, you can take advantage of a 'Welcome Back to Sacred Acupuncture' Special Discount. If you come back in for treatment during the month of September you will get a 20% discount.
Why come in for regular treatment? Treating the symptoms of pain and illness is good, but it is just the surface level. Because I have been doing acupuncture for 20 years, I can normally clear the pain and symptoms within a few sessions.
The Real Value However, The real strength and value of Oriental medicine lies deeper - it is in treating the disease tendencies caused by ancestry, emotions, inheritance and your individual constitution. In Oriental medicine we call this constitutional treatment.
With periodic constitutional treatment we can tune-up the whole system and work on these deeper levels. Of course the goal of Sacred Acupuncture is to get your system balanced, disease and symptom free, and to get you into self-healing mode, so that you stay healthy! Most people start treatment off at once a week and then transition to once a month as we address the deeper levels.
Ancient Wisdom There is a beautiful 2000 year old saying in the 'bible' of Oriental Medicine - the 'Nei Jing' which is that treating a disease that has already manifested is like starting to dig a well when one is already thirsty. The Superior physician thus treats imbalance before it has had a chance to manifest as disease. When we treat at these deeper levels an ounce of prevention is definitely worth a pound of cure.
Testimonials Here is what two health care professionals recently said about my practice:
"After
hearing three different people exclaim about the results they'd had from
treatments by acupuncturist Adam Atman, I finally started treatment with him
myself. He lived up to his reputation! He impressed me with his knowledge, skill and sincerity. He zeroed
right into the sources behind my symptoms, and with three treatments has helped
me significantly. I'm also impressed with his Qigong classes and am
convinced of the health benefits of Qigong."
Martha Plescia, P.T.
"Adam's focused attention and presence in acupuncture got right to my core issues. I have been to over 30 acupuncturists around the country and Adam's training and skill in Chinese Medicine produces results. His extensive knowledge of Chinese herbs and western nutrition helped me clarify my supplement program. He brings in expertise in so many areas of healing and bodywork, that added dimension to our sessions and accelerated relief of my symptoms. He is committed and generous with his energy and time. Also, Adam is a master Qigong teacher and I feel energized and healed when I do Qigong classes with him." Karen Giles - Certified Advanced Rolfer
