Art is an irreplaceable way of understanding and expressing the world-equal to but distinct from scientific and conceptual methods. Art addresses us in the fullness of our being-simultaneously speaking to our intellect, emotions, intuition, imagination, memory, and physical senses. There are some truths about life that can be expressed only as stories, or songs, or images.

Greetings!
I heard this story last week at San Diego Unity Center, compliments of Rev. Wendy Craig-Purcell, and am passing it along for the fun of it...
A man was stranded on a desert island for ten years. He kept sending up smoke signals but no one ever came. Finally a ship responded to his signal and the captain came ashore. When he saw three big buildings side by side, he asked the man what they were.
"That one on the left is my house," said the man. "Why that's a fabulous house," said the captain, "What a great job you did building it. And what about the one in the middle. What's that?"
"That one there is my church," said the man.
"Beautiful, beautiful!" said the captain. "And what's that last one, the one on the right?"
"Oh," said the man. "That's the church I used to go to."

Born Gay is now available on my website as a book and an ebook for download. This is a photo-memoir about growing up gay in a family, culture, and church that perceived homosexuality as a sinful abomination. It's a tale of a metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly, contemplative to activist, victim of circumstance to creator of circumstance. I'm uploading some preview pages and they should be up soon.

Ok, that's all for now. I'm on my way to the east coast for a facilitator training at Lake Bonaparte (where I get to experience a Northeastern fall for the first time in a long time). I've got some great new workshops coming up for San Diego and will be sending out flyers about them soon.
Take care and be the light...

p.s doesn't this image of Venus of Willendorf (20,000-30,000 BCE) look a lot like this shot from the Hubbell telescope?
