From the Executive Director
Dear Pinemere Families,
The Jewish holidays are over, the leaves are beginning to fall (it actually already snowed up at camp!) and we are now in full gear getting ready for the summer of 2012. There is a lot of excitement going on in our Philadelphia office!
Here are some of the highlights:
1. We continue to have a record breaking camper enrollment this year. Our special Pinemere secret is getting out to more and more families. I am sure that this is a sign of what will be an excellent season. I thank you for continuing to share the good word about Pinemere to your friends and relatives. Please continue to do so - word of mouth is our best advertisement!
2. We have invited new members to our Parent Ambassador Committee. They will be working hard to distribute Pinemere flyers, host parlor meetings, and encourage people to sign up for the summer of 2012.
3. We have 23 applications for our 2012 CIT program and are expecting a few more! We will be beginning our interviews and selection process shortly.
4. Our CIT-TWOs are going to Israel again this summer, and once again, they will be traveling with teens from Camp Livingston, another JCC camp in Ohio. This partnership has proven to be a great match. I've heard that last year's CIT-TWOs are planning their own mini-reunion with the Livingston teens.
5. The 2011 parent survey has been processed and the results are in! Please read below about the exciting survey results.
6. You should see how beautiful our camp looks. Every time I go up there I see another change. You can get a little peek at what's going on by reading below.
We are always looking for families to host an information session. All you have to do is pick a date, invite at least one family, and we do the rest! What could be bad about talking all about camp during the year! Please let me know if you are interested. We are always happy to see our families during the year.
Ezra, Ann and I all look forward to seeing you at the reunion in January.
Think Camp!

| 2011 Survey Results! | |
The results are in - thank you to all the families who completed the online survey through the Foundation for Jewish Camp. We are pleased to report that in almost all areas, we both showed improvement from last year, and scored above the national average for Jewish camps. The results have also helped us to identify the areas where we need to continue to focus our energy and dollars.
Below are some highlights from this year's survey:
- 94% of you were likely to recommend Pinemere to family or friends, and 87% were "extremely likely." We have been told this is the most important measure of success, and both of these are well above the national average!
- 97% reported being satisfied with the 2011 summer!
- The social environment at Pinemere continues to score well above the national average.
- Ratings in programming and activities, as well as communication with parents, were positive, but you have helped us identify areas for improvement. These are both areas in which excellence is of paramount importance to us.
- Our campers come from a wide variety of Jewish backgrounds. One of our main challenges is finding the right balance of Judaic content to satisfy as many people as possible.
- Facility improvements for the 2011 summer were noticed and appreciated. This continues to be a primary focus for us, and we have many physical and visual changes in store for 2012, some of which you can see below.
Thank you to everyone who participated; the results and your comments are crucial to our work.
And congratulations to the three winning families of the raffle. Each family has won a goodie basket full of Pinemere gear, new and old!

- Administrative buildings have been re-painted. By next summer many of our bunks will have a new, fresh coat of paint as well.
- The dining hall renovation has begun with new serving counters. By next summer we will have new washrooms and additional enhancements!
- All leaks in roofs have not been patched, rather have been entirely replaced.

Toby selected for National Fellowship

We are very excited that Toby Ayash has been selected as one of 16 fellows participating in the Foundation for Jewish Camp's Executive Leadership Institute (ELI). Summer 2012 Registration and Referral Incentives

Summer 2012 registration is well underway. We had a fantastic response to the "pick-up special" and early enrollment is higher than it has been in years. If you haven't signed up yet, it is easier than ever: just log in to CampMinder as you did previously to view photos and complete forms, and click on "Camper Application." Select the appropriate session(s), make any changes to your information from last year, click submit, and that's it!

We are also continuing with the referral incentives from last year. For each new family you refer to Pinemere Camp that registers, you will receive a $100 check at the end of the summer! Refer 10 new families and your family will receive a free camp tuition!

One Happy Camper Incentive Grant

Through the generosity of the Foundation for Jewish Camp and local communities, we are proud to be a partner of the One Happy Camper incentive grant, which provides $1000 for first-time overnight Jewish campers.
Many communities also provide a $750 grant for the second summer. If you are eligible, you must apply (for the second year as well!) directly at www.onehappycamper.org. Please contact us with any questions. |
