From the Executive Director

Dear Pinemere Families,

I visited camp last week and saw camp covered in lots and lots of snow! It was beautiful (albeit very cold). Our incoming CITs are going to be at camp in a few weeks for a leadership weekend, and they will also get to see a white Pinemere!

Although it was hard for me to imagine lots of activity and campers' voices at camp through all of the bare trees, the icy lake, and the feet of white snow, I realized that camp is really just a few short months away. We are already in high gear here in the Philadelphia office. We continue to receive new camper applications every week. We have a record-breaking new camper enrollment, and hope that this wonderful momentum will continue. We have started hiring our staff for the summer and look forward to many returning staff members, as well as welcoming some new faces.

I am so grateful to all of our parent ambassadors who have hosted parlor meetings, sent out postcards about camp, and distributed flyers in their areas. Many of our new campers have enrolled in camp due to their efforts. It is not too late for you to host a parlor meeting in your home as well. You only need to invite one prospective family and we will do the rest. Please let us know if you are interested.

I loved seeing so many of you at our reunion last month. And I can't wait to see all of you in a few short months.

Reunion Recap

The reunion for 2010 campers took place at Wynnewood Bowling Lanes on January 9th, and was a big success! Over 100 campers joined us for an afternoon of bowling, pizza, and camp friends. Thank you to everyone who came, and a special thank you to our parent and staff volunteers that day. Pictures from the reunion are up on our Facebook Page for you to enjoy!

Pinemere featured in HaKol Magazine

Enhanced clinics for Summer 2011

We are excited to once again offer specialized clinics at camp this summer! Clinics provide campers with a unique opportunity to focus exclusively on a single sport or activity for 3 days, and improve their skills by learning from experts in our "Coaches-in-Residence" program. Clinics will be enhanced this summer with additional offerings, and will be offered in each session.

More information about 2011 clinics will be in next month's issue.

Mazel Tov to Gabe Miner!

Pinemere's very own Gabe Miner, our Jewish Education Supervisor during the summer, was honored on January 23rd by the Jewish Educators Assembly at their annual conference. Gabe was recognized as part of "20/20," honoring 20 emerging leaders in their 20's from the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community. We are excited that Gabe will once again be returning to camp this summer.
