NEW Package Policy

Over the years, we have found ourselves committing considerable time and office space to managing the large number of packages that arrive for campers.  We have also found that these packages can cause competition, jealousy and clutter in the bunks.  After surveying other camps, discussing the package issue with board members and soliciting input from many of our camp families, we have decided to stop accepting packages at Pinemere.  With the following minor exceptions, all packages will be returned to the sender.  Here are the exceptions:  First, we will accept flat, non-padded envelopes (maximum size is 8.5" x 11").   Second, if your child forgets a necessary camp item, you can contact the camp by email or phone to let us know a package is coming, address the package to "Camp Office - Forgotten Item" and clearly mark inside the package your camper's name. Our office staff will open the package and make sure your child receives the item.  Third, non-food birthday packages will still be permitted and should be addressed to "Your Child's Name - Birthday Package."  We look forward to your cooperation in honoring this new policy.

Alumni Day

Introducing the 2010 Israeli Staff

Meet our Israeli Mishlachat!

Eyal Aviram: Eyal is from Ashkelon, Israel, which is a coastal city south of Tel Aviv. He is trained as a hydrotherapist and has worked in this field with children with special needs. He has spent most of his life in a pool, as both a swim instructor and as a competitive swimmer. Currently, he is on a two month trek from Mt. Hermon in the north of Israel to Eilat in the south of Israel. This summer, you will find Eyal at the pool and the lake.

Yael Lerner: Yael is from Givataim, Israel, which is near Tel Aviv. Yael has been a counselor at different Israeli camps and youth movements for many years. During her service in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), she was in a combat unit in the air force (very rare for a female)! Currently, she is doing fundraising for Greenpeace, and helping people to become more environmentally aware. This summer, you will find Yael at the adventure course.

Julia Melamed: Julia (likes to be called Jule) is from Beer Sheva, Israel, which is in the south of Israel. Jule is very creative and has experience in many areas of arts and crafts, as well as in drama and cinema. She particularly likes drawing, making collages and making art from recycled materials. She can't wait to get messy in the art room this summer.

Halel Moran: Halel is from Kibbutz Givat-Haim Meuhad, Israel, which is a kibbutz near Netanya in the center of Israel. He comes from a family of musicians - all five siblings are musicians! He is an amazing saxophone player, and also plays the piano and sings. He is looking forward to putting together a camp band (bring your instruments!), and teaching camp a lot of new songs.

Yoni Pruzansky: Yoni is from Kiryat Bialik, Israel, which is close to Haifa in the north of Israel. Yoni has always been involved in swimming, whether as a swim coach, a swim instructor or as a professional competitor on swim teams. He loves the water, as well as many other sports! This summer, you will find Yoni in the pool and the lake.

Lilia Shtern: Lilia is from Jerusalem, Israel. She has worked with children and teens since she was in high school, and recently was a counselor for teens at a therapeutic boarding school. She loves theater and dance - especially belly dancing! This summer, Lilia will be teaching you all of her favorite dance moves, and will also be helping out in the drama department.

Ella Vishnevsky: Ella is from Ashdod, Israel, which is a port city located south of Tel Aviv. In high school, she majored in physics and computers. She served as a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during her army service. This summer, you will find Ella on the tennis courts.

Meet our Israeli Scouts!

Noa Ben David: Noa will be celebrating her 17th birthday at camp this summer. She is from Shoham, Israel, a small town close to Tel Aviv. She has been involved in the Scouts movement for many years, and is currently a counselor for the 12 year olds. In her free time she loves running, swimming and bicycle spinning.

Hagar Etzion: Hagar will also be celebrating her 17th birthday at camp this summer. She is from Even Yeuhda, Israel, which is near the coastal city of Netanya. She has been involved with the Scouts for most of her life, following in her brother's footsteps.

ATTENTION FAMILIES!!  CAMP NEEDS CD AND CASSETTE PLAYERS!!

Do you have CD players or cassette players lying around the house? Why not do something useful with them?

Now that most of us use iPods, we are sure that many of you have boom boxes, discman, or walkman lying around the house that you would love to get rid of. Please consider donating them to camp for our program areas!

Please bring your donations to camp on the first day of summer.

SKIP AROUND THE ROOM...SKIP AROUND THE ROOM!!!

Pinemere Camp extends its condolences to our camper, David Levy, and his father, Paul Levy, on the untimely passing of their mother/wife, Karen Levy. Our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time. We know our campers will embrace David fully when he returns to camp this summer. May Karen's memory be for a blessing.
