Dear Pinemere Families,
We hope your return to the "reality" of life after the summer has been going well. We are sure you all have wonderful memories of the awesome summer we had at camp. The amount of applications we have received for the summer of 2010 shows us how successful the summer really was. We already feel the excitement of summer 2010 in the air - and it's only October!
This is our first ePinemerit of the New Year. Please feel free to send us articles, ideas or announcements that you'd like to see in future ePinemerits. We'd love to include all of your creative talents (parents and campers alike!).
Please remember that the "early bird" special for returning families just passed (September 30th) and applications coming in between now and November 30th will be assessed a late fee of $200. The good news is that for a very limited time, we will still accept "early bird" applications. This very special (unprecedented) offer will be extended until October 9th ONLY! There will be no exceptions. So, get those applications in the mail this weekend. We don't want you to miss this special opportunity. And, we certainly don't want you to pay unnecessary late fees.
Watch your e-mail for upcoming announcements about our reunion, winter weekends at camp, and all sorts of other surprises!
Once again, we wish you and your families a very happy, healthy New Year. We also hope for peace in Israel, and an end to the economic crisis here at home.

Did you know?
At the end of the summer, we donated many things to food banks and shelters. Here is a sampling of the places which received donations from Pinemere Camp.
1. Over 80 cases of leftover cereal were donated to the Follow Me Foundation in Stroudsburg. Follow Me Foundation provides food for 600 families in the Stroudsburg area every week.
2. At least 20 old computers were donated to a sheltered workshop in Stroudsburg which employs mentally challenged young adults. One young man, who was working there the day the computers were delivered, was very proud to tell us that had helped build the wall outside of our dining hall.
3. Cereal and other dry items were donated to the Westfield, NJ food pantry.
4. Canned goods, drums of dried soup mix and a case of prunes (!) were donated to the Emanuel Dining Room soup kitchen in Wilmington, DE.
We thank former Board member, Bob Coonin, for all of his help in delivering these items to their new homes and are proud that Pinemere is taking an active part in Tikun Olam (Repairing the World).

CIT Work Project
Check out what the CITs of 2009 created during 2nd session.
 Each year our Counselors In Training do a work project which is their opportunity to give back to camp. This summer, the CITs selected to build a new pagoda to be centrally located in camp. Working along side our woodshop professional, Meir Ayash, hours of work went into laying the foundation and building the floor, walls and benches of the pagoda this summer. The roof was put on professionally after the summer. The CIT Pagoda will be a new place for meetings, enjoying shade, playing games, and much more.
Thank you to all of the CITs of 2009 for building such a beautiful addition to our camp.

Announcements
Some of you had the chance to meet Pinemere alumna and author Julie Kraut at camp this summer. Julie will be in Philadelphia this weekend to speak about her book, Slept Away, which is based on overnight camp experiences.
