Pinemere Camp Visitors

Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia
Dear Parents:

This past Friday we had a very exciting day. We were privileged to host some very special visitors from The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia at Pinemere Camp. We welcomed Mr. Leonard Barrack (Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, President) & Mrs. Lynne Barrack, Mr. Joseph Neubauer & Mrs.
Jeanette Lerman Neubauer (from the Neubauer Family Foundation), Marc Blattner
(Chief Development & Strategy Officer for the Jewish Federation of Greater
Philadelphia) and Alex Stroker (Chief Marketing Officer for the Jewish
Federation of Greater Philadelphia). They arrived in a big helicopter which
landed on our soccer fields - very exciting!!

The Neubauer Family Foundation, the Foundation for Jewish Camping and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia provide individual scholarship grants of
$1,250 (first year) and $750 (second year) towards an overnight Jewish camp
experience of three weeks or more, regardless of financial need. Through this
incentive program, which allotted money for campers new to Jewish camping,
Pinemere had 18 new participating campers last year...14 of which returned to
Pinemere this summer. We had the highest retention rate of all the Jewish camps
that benefited from this program! This summer we had 14 more participants join
us.

During this special visit, our guests were able to get a true feel for Pinemere
and personally experience why it's so special here. They spoke with many
children and staff about why they chose Pinemere over other camps and why they
continue to come back year after year. Our company also spoke with the
children who participated in the grant program, and in return, those children
read our guests thank you notes that they prepared. In addition to walking
around camp, our guests enjoyed our weekly Friday "al fresco" barbeque and were
given challahs (baked by our cooking class) and challah covers (designed by
campers at Arts & Crafts). Mr. Blattner even participated at Adventure and did
the zip line! You can view pictures of the day on Bunk1.

We are so grateful for the generosity of the Neubauer family and the Jewish
Federation of Greater Philadelphia. We know our visitors recognized the value of
what makes our camp so extraordinarily unique from other Jewish camps!

On another note, I can't believe that we are in the last week of camp! The time
has flown, and soon we will be singing our final goodbye songs on the Pinemere
beach, as we bid 2009 goodbye. Further information about the last day of camp
will be sent to you in the next couple of days.

I look forward to seeing you next Sunday.
