Introducing the Israeli Staff of 2009 These counselors will be coming to camp full of Israel spirit!
Dear Pinemere Families,
I just came back from an
outstanding trip to Israel.
While there, I participated in a five day training course for the Israeli shlichim (emissaries) who will be
working at summer camps this summer in the United States. There were 500
talented, enthusiastic and wonderful young adults at the seminar who are eager
to share their enthusiasm with Jewish campers all over the country this summer.
I am thrilled to introduce
you to our eight amazing shlichim who
will make up the 2009 mishlachat
(delegation) eat Pinemere this summer. As Pinemere's director, I know that we
have the best of the best of the 500!!
Hadar Israeli - Hadar is
returning for his second year at Pinemere. Hadar lives in Jerusalem and is currently teaching at a high
school. He served as a medic in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), and taught and
led other medics. This year at Pinemere, he will wear many hats. He will serve
as the Rosh Mishlachat (the head of
the Israeli delegation), Assistant Unit Leader of the Village, and will heading
our new Camp Rock program. We are very happy that
Hadar will be in camp with us again this summer.
Neta Ben David - Neta is
from Jerusalem
and is a young woman with many talents. Besides speaking seven languages
(including Finnish), she knows Israeli sign language and taught deaf students
as part of her IDF service, she is a trained medical clown and she is very
talented in all areas of fine arts. This summer, she will be a part of our Omanut (arts and crafts) program.
Nadav Bonfil - Nadav is from
Givatayim and is currently still serving in the IDF in a special forces unit.
He also completed a special combat fitness course in the IDF and is very
talented in all areas of sports, especially basketball. This summer, Nadav will
be part of our ropes course staff, but don't be surprised if you see him on the
basketball courts too.
Nir Kojocaro - Nir is from
Rehovot and is currently still serving in the IDF. He was very active in the
Israeli scouts and was a camper, madrich (counselor) and head counselor with
them for many years. He has been swimming competitively and teaching swimming since
he was young. He hopes to participate in a triathlon after he completes his
army service in November. This summer, Nir will be part of our waterfront
staff.
Rona Ne'eman - Rona is from
Rishon Le Zion and served as a physical trainer in the IDF. She is a
professional dancer and teaches all sorts of dancing to children. She is also
talented in gymnastics and cheerleading, and was even a cheerleader for the
Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team. Rona will be part of our performing arts
staff this summer, teaching dance, cheerleading and gymnastics.
Ro'ee Rachamim - Although
Ro'ee is new to Pinemere, he spent many years as a shaliach at Camp
Ramah in the Poconos
where he served as the head of the ropes course. He is very excited to become a
member of the Pinemere family. Ro'ee is originally from Kiryat Shmona, but is
currently studying law in Netanya. He has a large amount of experience in
outdoors education including hiking, nature, camping and outdoors cooking. This
summer, Ro'ee will the supervisor for outdoors education and is looking forward
to learning about mushburgers.
Michal Raz - Michal is from
Karmiel and served as a teacher for new soldiers in the IDF. She was a camper
and counselor in a youth movement when she was growing up and loves all aspects
of the outdoors. She spent three years in Ohio with her family when she was younger.
This summer, you will see Michal hanging from the ropes in her position as a
ropes course instructor.
Jona Stirt - Jona is from
Kibbutz Hatzerim and was born in Argentina. He made aliyah to Israel with his
family when he was five years old. He is currently serving in the IDF as a
weapons instructor in the paratroopers unit. He has been playing basketball
since he was very young, coached children's teams and was offered to play on a
professional team at the age of 17. He is an avid runner and will be running in
a marathon soon. This summer, Jona will be Pinemere's basketball teacher.
