Success in any endeavor requires single-minded attention to detail and total concentration. --- Willie Sutton

The difference between something good and something great is attention to detail.

 Habit of Attention to Detail!

It's been said that the little things don't mean a lot, they mean everything. That is certainly true when it comes to paying attention to details.

All forms of Martial Arts, combative or performance, competition or street application...the Devil is in the Details!

Take the Art of Muay Thai, often called the science of eight limbs. The detail of how you apply those eight limbs is extremely important to it's overall effectiveness. A simple example could be the portion of the foot or shin you use when attacking with your kicks. Another example may be the habit of attention to detail in your footwork.

These details can affect your balance, power, speed and more. Maui Thai is considered to be one of the most simple and effective striking arts in the world. Simple doesn't always mean easy. There are still a lot of details you must learn and make habitual for you to become proficient at this excellent form of the Martial Arts.

XMA=>Extreme Martial Arts is an awe inspiring performance art that is beautiful to watch. The best performers are generally very athletic and able to blend together highly advanced kicking skills, along with impressive acrobatics. Similar to World Class Gymnast doing a floor exercise, there are many details that need to be learned, drilled and made
habit for excellence in this fine art.

Jiu Jitsu is well known as the most effective grappling art. When studying this fine art, you quickly learn there is more to it than meets the eye. You must pay attention to many details, such as your grip, your posture and even your breathing to avoid exhausting your energy. It's an art that requires an appreciation for detail, if you wish to achieve excellence.

"The way you do anything influences the way you do everything!"

As part of our Habits of Excellence series, we're reminding you to train to develop the Habit of Attention to Detail on and off the mats. In your Martial Arts, in your life and anything else that you wish to excel at.

Life is a lot more fun when you are excelling at it

  Pay Attention to the Details

"The magic behind every outstanding performance is always found in the smallest of details."

If you long to accomplish great and noble tasks, you first must learn to approach every task as though it were great and noble. Even the biggest project depends on the success of the smallest components.

Many people downplay small details, dismissing them as minutia-the "small stuff," that we're encouraged to ignore. But, in fact, our whole environment is simply an accumulation of tiny details.

Although we measure our lives in years, we live them in days, hours, minutes and seconds. Every action-every detail of our lives--has bottom-line repercussions, and it's dangerous and derogatory to think of any of those details as trivial, unimportant or inconsequential.

Successful people, in many walks of life, understand the importance of detail:

· Crime scene investigators know that it's often the smallest, most obscure detail that results in the arrest and prosecution of criminals.

· Athletes and coaches are all too aware that one minor misjudgment can swing momentum to their competitor and result in a loss rather than a win.

· Doctors and nurses understand that the slightest mistake or loss of focus can result in a tragic situation that carries massive liability.

· Business people carefully oversee the details of their products and services, knowing that one simple slip up can cause a series of events that negatively impacts the bottom line, brand integrity, and public perception.

· Engineers and architects know that the stability of the most gigantic structure depends on the integrity of its smallest element; a failed bolt or a misplaced pin can have huge consequences.

8 Ways to Clean Up Messy Homework

Simple steps for stress free schoolwork.

1. Evaluate your child's work. Check his assignments before he turns them in, and have him recopy anything that is illegible. You could even come up with your own neatness grading system - but keep it lighthearted ("I give this one garbage truck - it's nice and clear! This one gets three trucks - it needs a little more work").

2. Understand the source. Is it only the math homework that's crowded with doodles and scribbles? Maybe your child doesn't grasp the concepts. Bone up on the basics so you can help her, and talk to her teacher about her struggles. She might benefit from a tutor or other homework helper.

3.   Provide the proper tools. Often, messy homework assignments are a result of a lack of organization. Give your child the supplies he needs to stay organized and keep his homework neat. Try a three-ring binder with color-coded folders, one for each subject. If his favorite color is red, assign the red folder to his favorite subject.

4.  Clean up her work environment. The kitchen table usually isn't the optimal place for your child to work. Create an orderly workspace, complete with well-organized files, pens, pencils, and other supplies.

5.  Make lists. A disorganized child may find himself easily overwhelmed. To help him start his homework routine on the right foot, make a simple, clear list of the tasks that he needs to complete: take backpack to homework desk, have snack, feed pets, do math problems . . . and so on.

5 Fun and Easy Exercise Games

One way to make exercising fun is through exercise games. Research shows that one of the most effective approaches to having an individual stick to a healthy fitness plan is by making their workouts fun. By turning working out into a game, you will forget that you are working out and instead laugh and compete your way toward a better body. Here are several fun and easy exercise games that you can incorporate into your everyday routine.

Exercise Game #1: Tag

This may be one of the simplest games ever played. It is one of the first games we learn to play as a child. Simply get a group together and play tag. Select one person to be "It" and everyone else tries to avoid this person. Similar activities include basic games like Duck-Duck-Goose and Monkey-in-the-Middle.

Exercise Game #2: Follow the Leader

With index cards, write a calisthenics activity on each card. Examples of calisthenics activities include jumping jacks, sit ups and push ups. On another set of cards, write the numbers 1 through 10. Each person in the group is given one calisthenic activity and one index card with a numeric number. One at a time, a person leads the group in performing the calisthenic activity for the number of times listed on their cards. Continue through the whole group until everyone has completed their activities.

Exercise Game #3: Obstacle Course

This is a fun fitness activity that can be played by only one person. Go to a local playground and set yourself up with an obstacle course. Spend five minutes swinging in the swings, making sure to really pump your legs. Then move onto the monkey bars and make yourself swing all the way to one side and then work your way back to the beginning. Consider skipping bars to increase the challenge. Build your upper body strength by climbing up the fireman pole. Work your way through the entire playground and finish by walking across the balance beam a few times. To increase the challenge, add exercises like push ups, jumping jacks, crunches and lunges between each piece of equipment.
