Hey Everyone !!
Welcome to our E-News Online Newsletter for the
month of -- February !
The start of a New Year is an exciting time and most
people are eager to attack their New Years
resolutions
in January but by February some start to lose site of
those goals. Remember it's not
where you start, it's how you finish in life that counts!
Being a Finisher -
I've learned that, in life, there are no free rides to the
island of success. This is especially true in the martial
arts. Success requires much hard work, focus and
raw
determination; however, not every student
understands this yet. That must be why our world is
comprised of what I call "starters" and "finishers."
I define a starter as someone who constantly begins
new projects before completing previous projects.
Half
way through a task, they give up and start something
new, which to them always looks like a better
opportunity than the last. With passion in their voice,
you'll hear starters rave about how they're on the verge
of achieving a really big goal; but they never do. It's a
familiar pattern that many of us recognize, and have
experienced.
In the other corner are the finishers. I consider a
finisher someone who carefully selects meaningful,
worthwhile goals and then focuses on them like a
laser, until those goals are eventually achieved.
Finishers go the extra distance, deliver that critical last
ten percent and guide projects to completion. They
have "Black Belt" follow-through skills, which is so
important if you expect to be successful at virtually any
task.
Keep checking the E-news Online Newsletter to hear
about exciting new events.
February's student password is ---

5 Ways to Make 2009 your Best Ever!
How can you make 2009 your best year ever?
It doesn't matter whether 2008 was your best ever, a
decent year or it totally sucked...I'll bet you'd like to
make 2009 even better.
I know I plan on making it my best ever!
Would you care to join me? What's it going to take?
#1. Create Clarity of exactly what your best year ever
means - If you look back at your past 1-3 years
statistics, you should be able to see what your best
has been from your past results. Look at your average
monthly results, or your average quarterly results, then
add a minimum of 10%, better yet...set your sights on
the 20% or better target goal.
#2. Design your Massive Action Plan (M.A.P.) - Many
times I witness students set a goal with little to no
thought put to what actions they need to take to make
it happen. Clarity of your exact goal gives you what to
FOCUS on, your M.A.P. gives you the ACTION.
#3. Review your Goals and take Massive Action
everyday - The more often you review your Goals and
revisit your M.A.P., the more you increase your
chances of success and achievement. As we finished
Year 2008, there were some great reminders from the
many members that did indeed have their best year
ever.
The key thing that jumped out, was the fact that they
stayed consistently FOCUSED and took consistent
ACTION.
#4. Record and review your results everyday - In other
words, keep accurate stats on your daily results. If you
want to kick butt this year, make it a habit to know
your numbers better than ever before. The better you
KNOW your NUMBERS, the better you GROW them.
At the end of the day, you can bet that Tiger Woods
knows his number when he walks off the golf course.
That would be true in competition as well as in
practice. Tiger is extremely well paid doing something
he loves. You can be paid extremely well too. But not if
you are accepting mediocrity from yourselves and
your team. Raise the bar for the New Year.
#5. Pay attention to what is working and what isn't -
The best always get better. Why? Because they are
constantly seeking ways to improve. They pay
attention to what they are doing that is working and
they remain plugged into other high achievers that are
on the climb.
Top performers not only pay attention to what they are
doing that is working, they also pay attention to what
others are doing that is working. By constantly
networking with others who have achieved or are
getting the results that you want.
"Surround yourself with people most like the
person you want to become. Stay away from anyone
who can or will bring you down."
2008 was great...2009 is going to really shine.
Let's team up to make 2009 our best year ever!

"Tips For Keeping Kids Healthy"
Why does it seem that kids experience the most sick-
time during the winter months?
Contrary to popular belief, it's not because they went
outside with wet hair, or forgot to put their coat on.
Illness isn't caused by exposure to cold, nor are
germs more rampant during the winter
However, kids are cooped up more often in enclosed
spaces during the winter. When they are cooped up
together with less fresh air, it's easier for germs and
illnesses to pass from one child to another.
Luckily, the majority of illnesses that kids get are
relatively minor. While these illnesses can be
annoying-fever, upper respiratory issues, diarrhea,
and sniffling and sneezing are never fun-they are
rarely cause for emergency.
That being said, every parent wants to do what they
can to ensure that their kids are as healthy as
possible.
What steps can a parent take?
The first step to staying healthy is practicing good
hygiene. Train your kids to wash their hands
frequently, and don't let them share items like cups or
utensils. Most colds and viruses can be completely
prevented with adequate hand washing.
Make sure your kids eat well. Good nutrition is another
cornerstone to being healthy!
Keep your kids away from the high-calorie, sugary,
processed foods and instead fill their plates with
vitamin- and mineral-rich fruits and vegetables.
If your kids refuse to eat anything green, make sure
they take a good multi-vitamin formulated especially
for kids.
Certainly, if possible, get your kids started at an early
age with regular exercise and fitness activities. It's
never to early too help your kids get on the path of
proper health and wellness.

Health Kick... |
 |
While working with students to improve thier martial
arts I'm frequently asked for help in the areas of
fitness and nutrition. To shed some light on recent
topics I'm sharing the article below:
Lose the Love Handles
You cannot target fat loss. Fat will be used as energy
for your workouts and will be reduced after time
performing cardio, resistance training, and eating
healthy.
let's look at a routine that incorporates
exercises that will help you work your love handles
(the oblique region of the torso) over time and effort.
Personally, I like to work my "obliques" on days I work
my legs, so I created the Legs and Love Handles
workout seen on the webpage with the link below.
As with any abdominal fat loss goal, you need to
concentrate on three areas to help firm your mid-
section.
Here are the three areas of concentration:
1) Healthy Diet (to build energy and burn fat);
2) Cardio-vascular and resistance training (to burn fat
and build muscle), and;
3) Targeted Abdominal exercises (to help firm the
muscles under the fatty area)
