Black Belt Learning Strategies
At American Black Belt Academy a black belt is
awarded to every person who reaches their max
potential in the Martial Arts.
Because the time varies so greatly, people often
wonder what the secret is to rapid progress in martial
arts. Most instructors would tell you that all it
takes is hard training as often as possible. At
American Black Belt Academy we believe that it is not
just how many classes you take, but what you take
from the classes.
Those who progress most rapidly are the ones who
know how to learn most effectively.
In this article we will be discussing one learning
strategy that will help you reach black belt in the least
amount of time possible.

"Martial Arts Motivation for Children"

I want to address a common parental concern that I
continue to encounter, both in my role as a martial arts
teacher, and as a fellow parent. This is in the difficulty
that many parents often encounter in getting their
young student to martial arts class only to be even
more confused at their child's enthusiasm when they
are actually in class. "I have to fight to get them here,"
or "He just wants to play with his friends," are common
complaints that I hear from frustrated parents.
They find it very difficult to understand the
contradiction between having to fight to get their child
to class and the fact that they have so much fun when
they get there.
To solve the 'mystery' and eliminate the
misunderstanding we must first understand the way a
child thinks and the way their brain has developed to
this point in their young lives............

Plan Ahead for Holiday Eating
seems like the next few months of celebrations
revolve around food. Not just any foods, but tempting,
mouth-watering, high-caloric foods that are
impossible to resist. Of course, with a little pre-
planning, you can limit the effects these foods can
have on your health and weight.
First, remember you can say 'no' to food. The food
police are not going to force another helping of latkes
or mashed potatoes and gravy down your throat (Aunt
Myrtle is another story). Second, you can enjoy the
traditional holiday foods, but moderation will play a
part in staying on tract. Third, remember the scout
motto and be prepared.
Get some tips on how to feast without becoming a
beast .............

the 7th and 8th of November.
Children: Lil Dragons & Goshin Juniors will test on
Friday 7 NOVEMBER 2008
Adult Martial Arts & Jiu Jitsu will test on Saturday

holiday schedule. Due to the occurence of dates that
fridays fall on this November, the upcoming
Thanksgiving Holiday, and some Academy special
events there will a limited number of Black Belt Club
classes.
