Most consultations are typed into MS Word, printed and sent to the referring doctor.

There are 2 major problems with this process 

  • It is expensive (paper, envelopes, print cartridges, printer, delivery charges etc add up to about R5 per letter) 
  • Delivery often fails (studies indicate failure to reach the referring doctor as often as 50% of the time, but even 10% would be unacceptable)  

The wizards at Bluebird solved these problems by developed an MS Word plug in that:  

  • Sends the consultation you have written in Word to any doctor registered with the HPCSA
  • Notifies that doctor (SMS and email) that the consultation is available and thereby moves the onus to read the report to the referring doctor.
