Join us for the upcoming opening of the International Symposium on Primo Levi. Special guests include the Consul General of Italy Francesco M. Taḷ, the Consul General of Israel Asaf Shariv, the Consul General of Germany Horst Freitag, and Israel's Ambassador at the UN Gabriela Shalev.

After presentations by the organizers of the symposium, Natalia Indrimi (CPL), Stefano Albertini, Mustapha Tlili (New York University), and Aoibheann Sweeney (CUNY Graduate Center), Andrew Viterbi (University of California) will deliver opening remarks remembering Primo Levi as family and friend.

The acclaimed Israeli soprano Sharon Rorstorf-Zamir accompanied by Berlin pianist Rainer Armbrust will perform a new version of the song cycle "If This Is a Man," which was originally composed for orchestra and recorded by the Israel Philharmonic. Post-concert talk with Tzvi Avni and composer, orchestrator, and educator Samuel Adler (Eastman Conservatory, Juilliard School).

Longstanding partners Casa Italiana Zerilli Mariṃ at NYU, the Italian Cultural Institute, and the Cahnman Foundation are joined this year by the Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center, the NYU Center for Dialogues - Islamic World-US-The West, and the Centro Internazionale di Studi Primo Levi of Turin.
