Of Ghetto and Nation
The Gisella Levi Cahnman Open Seminars

Gadi Luzzatto Voghera
From "Jews" to "Israelites". Italian Jews at the Dawn of Emancipation.

Gadi Luzzatto Voghera (Boston University/Padua), prominent scholar of 19th century European Jewry and modern anti-Semitism, continues the discussion on "Ghetto and Nation" that began with David Ruderman's lecture on November 3.

With the use of multimedia documentation, Prof. Luzzatto will explore real life stories of 19th century men and women against the background of the political and cultural change that shaped unified Italy.

The Open Seminars on Italian Jewish Studies are a forum of ideas and resources for both the academic and general public annually offered by Centro Primo Levi in cooperation with the Cahnman Foundation.

They are especially geared towards graduate students of Italian and Judaic studies who seek to explore the story of Italian Jewry and make connections with scholars in the field.

Free passes re available for students of NYU, CUNY, and COLUMBIA. Inquiries: info@primolevicenter.org
