 |
Mon. Sept. 9 @ 7 pm Italian Cultural Institute Park Av. at 68 St.
Moni Ovadia
Reads Primo Levi
Satirical and controversial, a bit philosopher and a bit man of stage, tragic and clownesque at once, unlikely impersonator of Yiddishkeit in the land of bread and roses, fierce political critic and popularizer of the most disparate rabbinical traditions, Moni Ovadia is today one of the best-known figures in Italian theater.
In the salon of the Italian Cultural Institute he will read and comment selected writings of Primo Levi.
An unforgettable treat!

The Politics of Memory
|
 |
Mon. Sept. 15 @ 6:30 pm Center for Jewish History 15 W 16 St.
Mark Greif, Andrea Fiano, Robert Weil, Sergio Parussa.
Moderator: Alessandro Cassin
Film screening: Levi an inconvenient witness. From the archives of RAI.
Why is Primo Levi so respected and so simplified at once? Why is he considered a removed witness even though he wrote fiction, news, radio, and political commentary? Why was the book that made him known as witness of the Shoa first rejected in Italy as in the US and Israel?
