Christmas 2011

Children's Christmas Choir

Parents, Ben would love to have your K-5th grader in this year's Children's Christmas Choir. The choir will rehearse from 12:15-1:00pm on December 11 and December 18, and at 4:15pm on December 24. Please pick up a rehearsal CD in the gathering area this Sunday.

Congregational Meeting: December 18 at 4:00pm

Our annual congregational meeting will be Sunday, December 18 at 4:00pm. The purpose of the meeting is the election of officers, the election of the 2012 nominating committee, and the presentation and approval of the 2012 budget.

Thank You from Kairos Team

Dear River Community Church Family,

Thank you all so much for your support of our recent Kairos LCIW #33 retreat. We are so grateful for all that you did to support the team and the weekend activities.

Thank you so much to everyone who baked cookies. The cookies are a tangible example of God's love to all of the participants as well as all of the residents on the compound. In knowing that you took your time and resources to bake cookies for someone that you do not even know in prison they are given a beautiful (and delicious) picture of God's love.

Advent Devotionals
December 7 and 14, 6:45-7:30pm

We'll meet from 6:45-7:30pm tonight (December 7) and next Wednesday to sing, pray, read Scripture, and hear a short devotional. This informal gathering for all ages is a wonderful opportunity to prepare your hearts to celebrate more fully the first coming of Christ and to long more eagerly for His second coming.

Christmas Poinsettias

Each year we decorate our church with poinsettias that have been purchased by our congregation to honor or remember someone special in their lives. To order a poinsettia, please fill out one of the red poinsettia forms found in the gathering area this Sunday and place it in the Offering basket. Orders must be received by Sunday, December 11. You may pick up your poinsettia(s) after the Christmas Eve service.

Children's Art Show

Parents, please encourage your children to get busy creating art works for our Children's Art Show at the end of January. The show is open to children aged 5 to 13. We'll be taking entries from January 22-25. The opening reception is scheduled for Sunday, January 29.  Watch for more details after Christmas.

Perspectives Course

Your God is a Missionary God! Were you aware that the entire story of the bible is a record of God's divine intervention in the lives of men for the purpose of saving the whole world? The Perspectives Course offers a unique chance to focus on what the great commission is, and how it is directly relevant to your own intimacy with Jesus Christ. Find out how you can fit into the great commission by looking at the historical, biblical, strategic and cultural aspects of our calling.
